Re: Im broke, un-employed, and starting to freak out
I'm seriously tired of all these unemployed people complaining on this website. Get a job, it's not that hard.

If my kid can get a job at McDonald's, so can you. Everyone thinks because they went to college, got a degree and labored all these years in the workplace that they deserve some kind of "good" job when they get laid off or their company shuts down.

You don't deserve anything. Complaining about not having a job or not getting social services when you're unemployed is socialist. Period.

We're a capitalist society. If you don't have a job, it's because you have nothing to provide the system and don't deserve one.

Don't get mad at him because he's right.... The truth hurts doesn't it asshole. All you fucking people that think you "deserve" something only deserve one thing.... The life you are currently living.

Try the kapipal thing and place a post on facebook that you are trying to start a business or something, and see how many donate to the cause. Then with the funds,do something simple like maybe buy a snowblower and hire yourself out this brutal winter, print flyers for house cleaning, babysitting, gardening, garbage hauling, or if you have a minivan place flyers at construction sites as sort of a construction site cab. Just make sure you have muscle with you as protection.

Funny how all the people who say they're "broke", homeless and so bad off can somehow afford computers, smart phones and internet access. It's all a bunch of bullshit so they have excuses to riot and cause anarchy. The American "poor" live better and are healthier than the "middle class" in third world countries. Try taking your lazy, whiny piece of shit ass to the slums in Brazil if you want to see how bad you could have it.

Oh, fucking BULLSHIT! I am so goddamn sick of this propaganda! I have internet access right now b/c I am housesitting, one of many little side enterprises I am desperately scrambling for to keep up with bills. My usual living space is an uninsulated yurt with no electricity or running water.

I work two part-time jobs and as many side gigs as I can find, so long as they're ethical and legal. I have 15 years of experience and a college degree. I don't have a smart phone, I have a $10 Tracfone and no landline. My laptop is 3 years old, bought back when I last had a full-time job. My car is a 98 Subaru with an oil leak which I am trying to save up money to fix. I apply for every job I even THINK I might qualify for -- not just in my local area, either -- and 90% of the time I don't get even a "thanks but no thanks" response.

I am NOT lazy. I've worked since I was 13 years old. In fact, I WANT to work full-time. I NEED to work full-time. I have been looking for full-time work for 2 1/2 years and I count myself lucky to have the two part-time jobs I do have; but honestly, most months, my income is so low, that I qualify for food stamps.

Don't talk to me about the third world. I live in third-world conditions. I shit in an outhouse. I am a college-educated, job-experienced American who has never stopped looking for work, who cleans houses on the side whenever I can (believe me, house-cleaning gigs are HIGHLY competitive these days), and who has woken up on winter mornings to find the oil inside my oil lamps, frozen solid.

I bake my own bread b/c it's cheaper (and healthier. One of the upsides of my situation is that I have access t)o a large garden, and a neighbor with whom I trade bread for eggs. I can tomato sauce and apple sauce and blackberry jam and I scrounge, scrounge, scrounge. I am managing to save every month despite making less than $800 a month, usually. I work VERY hard to keep my head above water. I just pray that nothing serious happens to my old car, to my dog, or to myself. If I have a major crisis, I'm sunk.

I'm goddamn sick of people claiming that those of us who are poor are just lazy. Most poor folks work way harder than any rich folks could ever dream. And by the way, we're generally smarter, too; we are constantly having to budget and plot and plan and improvise. I'd love to see one of you smug assholes try to make it in the conditions I live in.

Yeah bro, you're not alone, trust me. I haven't been able to get any work for two years. I've tried believe me, I finally broke down and applied at fast food places and got the same response from all of them, "thank you for your interest, however, we're currently pursuing another candidate that better matches...". WTF? I was in Upper Management and I can't even get a minimum wage job at a fast food joint. All my reserves are about gone after that, I don't know where or what I'll do.

It doesn't matter if you have a job or not, at least not that I've noticed.

I work 70+ hours every week, bring home very very very little, live paycheck to paycheck, sicken myself with my horrendous work hours, and never see my husband.

Honestly, I was happier not working and worrying about finances (since we're still doing that now even with 2 incomes) - at least I had my sanity. Now I'm exhausted, frustrated, over-worked, stressed-out, and sadly, still broke.

It sucks for everyone these days.

I am a full time student. I recently moved closer to campus to save on gas. The stress is becoming a distraction and is hurting my grades. I have even applied for the work study program at my campus. I have had many interviews, all with the same result, " we will give you a call on monday". Yeah, what monday is that? Im still waiting. Its sad when your school is not even offering you a job.
