If you could bring back to life ONE musician that died before their 35th birthday, who would you choose?

Most people throw salt for my liking of R.E.M.... I assume it's because Michael Stipe is gay, but whatever... the man writes great lyrics. I applaud you for not hating on me for liking R.E.M.

Yes, I loved Layne. I was a HUGE AIC fan until he died. The last couple of years before his death I had a terrible foreboding about him. You could feel it coming.

Wow... I forgot about Elliot Smith. A man dying by stabbing himself is almost poetic...

I appreciate those that like Janis Joplin.... but her voice was like nails on a chalkboard to me.

The woman had power and passion and meaning in her singing but god damn I couldn't stand her voice.

Of course she was around way before those big mic amps and equalizers but she had it, more than a lot of today's singers

So far I'm just seeing the usual suspects (except D. Boon, thanks for that)
Clifford Brown--maybe the greatest jazz trumpet player ever, was a gentleman, a nice guy, and he was clean (of drugs). Died in a car wreck between gigs.
Lee Morgan--trumpeter, member of Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers (Clifford Brown was too), was shot by his jealous wife when she saw him talking to another woman at a jazz club.
notable mention: Booker Little and Fats Navarro, two other trumpet greats who died too early.
Nick Drake--genius guitarist singer, died from early psych medicine overdose. His music is being heard still...lately on a Volkswagon TV adds...Pink Moon...
Jaco Pastorious--revolutionized fretless bass guitar and did things with harmonics, melody and rhythm far beyond what people were capable of at the time... listen to Joni Mitchell's Hjera album. Suffered from bi-polar disease, was beaten to death by a very ignorant club bouncer.

No one has mentioned John Bonham or Brian Jones. Those are the two I miss most.

Damn, didn't realize Bonham was that young when he died. I was a pretty serious drummer for a while and Bonham was my main inspiration. I even sounded a lot like him in terms of style (though no where near as good, of course).

Mozart. He was 35 when he died.
