I've noticed that even during prime time tv it seems more

and more shows are using the holy name of Jesus to show

disrespect. The use "Jesus" as a type of punchline to

finish off one of their 'jokes'. So, like i said, even

after 2000 years, the Name of Jesus is still on the lips

of sinners and saints alike. People need t realize that

He will return - this same Jesus - as King of kings and

Lord of lords.

Sin came into the world and brought death with it. However, God's love is greater than the darkness that has settled upon this earth. Jesus said, "Don't be afraid, just have faith" and this is exactly what is required to overcome sin and death. Because of what Jesus did on the cross, we can have faith that God has forgiven us in His Son Jesus Christ. When we free ourselves of this guilt, we have the confidence to ask our Heavenly Father whatever we will and - if it is good for us - He will grant our request. This faith in Christ Jesus also translates us from death into life. The gift of the Holy Spirit gives witness to our spirit that we are the children of God. As God's children we inherit His Kingdom along with Eternal Life. So, as part of the gospel record, Jesus raises this young girl from death to teach us all that God has the power to do all things.... including the restoration of life to a girl who - in God's eyes - has only 'fallen asleep'. This is the love God is showing us.

A deaf man with a speech impediment was brought to him, and the people begged Jesus to lay his hands on the man to heal him.

Mar 7:33 Jesus led him away from the crowd so they could be alone. He put his fingers into the man's ears. Then, spitting on his own fingers, he touched the man's tongue.

Mar 7:34 Looking up to heaven, he sighed and said, "Ephphatha," which means, "Be opened!"

Love for God gives birth to faith. Jesus looked up to heaven and knew that God wanted to heal this man and so He SAID "Be opened!"

In the beginning God SAID, "let there be light." And there was light. Then he SAID "Let the waters gather together into one place and let the dry land appear." Again, what God said happened! And then God SAID, "Let the earth bring forth grass, and the fruit tree yielding fruit." Again, whatever God spoke out in faith...happened! Have you ever wondered why God SAID these things? God believed that whatever he spoke without doubt would come to pass.
Jesus was the same way. Jesus said, "Be healed" and the person was healed. Jesus believed that what he SAID would come to pass.

In Mark 11 Jesus went up to a fig tree to look for some fruit. He did not find any. "Never again will anyone eat the fruit from this tree," Jesus said. The next day the disciples noticed that the tree had dried up down to its roots. They were amazed. Jesus said, have faith in God; If you have faith in God and refuse to doubt you will tell this mountain 'get up' and 'jump into the sea' and it will obey you." "If you have faith, Everything you ask for in prayer will be given to you."

We are God's children now. Jesus said that if we have faith the size of a mustard seed we can move mountains. Do we believe him? Faith comes be hearing and hearing by the word of God. As we spend time in Scripture with the Holy Spirit and hearing the word of God preached it builds up our faith. Just like our brother Jesus and our Father God, if we believe and speak it out in the name of Jesus, what we said will come to pass.

The apostle Peter understood the awesome power in the name of Jesus as demonstrated in Acts 3:6. When a man begged somthing from him Peter SAID "in the Name of Jesus stand up and walk." Peter then acted upon his confession of faith by grabbing the mans hand and helping him to his feet. That is the God kind of faith. Complete confidence that what he SAID would come to pass.

Have you noticed that miracles only happen now "in the name of Jesus." God does this to confirm that Jesus is his only son as the gospels reveal. We have never heard of these supernatural miracles taking place in the name of Mohammed, or Budda, or Confuscius or any other name. These miracles only happen in the name of Jesus because God wants us to understand that Jesus died for our sin thereby making a way of salvation to all who have the faith and love to believe.

In Acts 14 Paul showed that same kind of faith. In verse three we read the Lord confirmed that Paul's "message about His great kindness was true." There was a man sitting there [v. 8] who was born with crippled feet. So Paul "looked straight at the man and SHOUTED, stand up." The man then jumped up and started to walk around. Again, Paul spoke out, not doubting, what he believed was possible in Christ and the miracle took place. This miracle was not only a confirmation that Jesus is the only son of God but also confirmed the wonderful things Paul was saying about God's kindness. Paul showed the God kind of faith!

Jesus' mom also showed the God kind of faith in Luke 1. Here an angel appears to her and tells her she is very blessed because the Lord is with her. The angel tells her that "the Holy Spirit and God's power will overshadow you so that the child will be called the Son of God." Mary SAID, "I am the Lord's servant; let it happen as you have said!" And, as described in Scripture, through the power of God [i.e., not knowing a man, Mary conceived Jesus Christ, the Son of God.] That is the God kind of faith. Mary went on to SAY that "From now on all people will say that God has blessed me." And here we are over two thousand years later talking about the faith of this chosen vessel. Mary SAID what would happen to her and the miracle took place because she had faith in the power of God!

I think I should conclude this section on having the God kind of faith with the beloved King David. Long before David became King he chose to encounter Goliath. David found out Goliath was challenging Saul's army. David was outraged that anyone should speak against "the army of the living God." Accordingly, David TOLD Saul that the same God who delivered him out of the paw of both the bear and the lion would deliver him out of the hand of this uncircumcised Philistine. David knew the power of God and knew that God was with him. David approched Goliath and SAID, "You come against me with sword, shield, and spear but I come against you in the name of the Lord of Hosts... This day the Lord will deliver you into my hands and I will kill you and I will take your head from you that everyone on earth may know that there is a God in Israel." David ran towards the battle line and to this day we know the outcome. When David spoke out in faith, what he SAID came to pass - not for his glory but so that "all the earth" may know the God of Israel. That is the God kind of faith!

If you are a born again believer in God - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit - you too have faith. Yes, YOU!!! I believe that as you reflect and read about God's friends in Scripture your faith will be nourished too. Your faith will grow and you will act upon this word in Jesus name. Love God and have the God kind of faith!

First, I believe Holy Scripture is the Inspired Word of God so i therefore believe in the Virgin Birth which makes Jesus Christ the Only Begotten Son of God. Nobody has ever walked with the Authority that Jesus walked in!!!

2. Ignorace is not the root of all of our problems... sin is!

3. Humans are not just psychological beings. We have a spirit too.

4. This is not Jesus speaking. He cannot contradict Himself or what the Holy Spirit has inspired.

5. It is not all about the power elite. They will be judged for what they have done. God had a plan and He's sticking to it. The elite is not the main problem... satan is.

I'm not saying there is no truth or wisdom in your essay. I'm sure some is true. However, i completely reject that this is Jesus speaking.

Jesus insists His disciples get in the boat... like God insists the spirit and soul have a body! Notice how the wind and waves make all those in the boat fearful just as those of us in the body travelling through time get tossed about by all of the trials and tribulations present in this life. Jesus is praying.... watching! God sees that we are in "serious trouble" and yet "He intended to go past them." See what love God has shown us? He is teaching us - just like He taught His disciples - that we NEED Him, our Creator. Like a baby needs its mother, we need our God to watch over us, protect us, and sustain our lives. So, when the fear reached a certain level the disciples cried out and God said, "Take courage. Here I Am." Sound familiar??? To those whom Jesus loves he commands "to the other side." It is a journey. It promotes growth and complete dependence upon Him. It is written: God loves those whom He disciplines."

Interesting questions can be made from these scripture verses.

Why did Jesus want to be alone with this man?

Why did He take those steps--put His fingers in the man's ears, spit on His fingers and touch the man's tongue--when healing him. Could He just not say "be healed"?

He told the crowd not to say anything, but they did. Jesus knew they would. So what is this all about?

I'll have to look further into these scriptures myself.

Hey, i started reading some of these 'strange sound'
threads. They seem interesting and legit! Have you
formed an opinion?

It's so funny you bring this up. I have been reading the same threads this past hour. Fascinating and eerie at the same time. Reminds me of a strange sound that I heard when I was young. I will never forget it--it frightened me.

I remember being in my bed with the covers over my head. I don't bring the subject up at all, because it stirs up some uncomfortable feelings.

I have told my family that I am anxious to find out what it was and that God will be the only one to give me the answer.

Although, I believe once in Heaven, I probably won't remember to ask Him what it was.

You know, now that reminds me. Years ago i was staying in a place overlooking the Hudson River [upstate NY]. Anyway i heard the strangest sound like that during a small earthquake except it was shorter and sharper noise but loud and unmistakable.... i'm sure a small faultline runs up the Hudson.

Makes me think of Romans 8...

Yet what we suffer now is nothing compared to the glory he will reveal to us later.

God has certainly revealed His LOVE for the world by providing 2 baptisms. Yes 2 !!!

There are two baptisms in the Word of God. The first one involves the use of water. The second one is described as "fire" or the infilling of the Holy Spirit. It is possible to get the second baptism before the first but the first baptism is not the same as the second. I will explain...

Baptism #1: When a person has been convicted of sin by the Holy Spirit they are given a desire to repent. Praise God, this person is finally on the way to eternal life. Sinners have failed God and themselves in many ways. Many times these moral failures were very public actions. Thus, to give glory to God the water baptism is a very public event. The person publicly turns away from sin and dedicates his or her life to Jesus Christ. They are sprinkled, or dunked, in water. The water is a symbol of the all encompassing mercy of God that washes away our sin. Through water baptism our sins are washed away and we are brand new creatures in Christ. We are born again. Jesus says that whoever acknowledges Me before men He will acknowledge before His father in heaven.

Baptism #2: After water baptism we are baptised in "fire." Spirit filled people lay hands on you and pray that you will be filled with the Holy Spirit. This baptism gives you the power to walk as Jesus did. Through the baptism in the Holy Spirit YOU are given a special gift to build up the community for God's glory. You may be given the gift to heal, or prophecy. You may be given the gift of tongues, or interpretation of tongues. You may be given a gift to perform miracles. There are many different gifts and the power to do these comes from the second baptism.

Many good christians have the first baptism but not the second. To make matters worse, many good preachers and churches don't even believe in the baptism of the Holy Spirit. They will say that you recieved everything during your water baptism. This is not true! Those who study the Scriptures understand that the infilling of the Holy Spirit is a separated event that must be prayed for just as water baptism was asked and prayed for. Do you have the power to perform miracles as Jesus did? I know in my life I did not experience this power until a dedicated, spirit filled christian layed hands on me and prayed just as it is found in Scripture. My main point is, however, not to let other people talk you out of this powerful experience - even by other well meaning christians. The experience still exists and it will be found by those who honestly seek it!

It is possible for a person to be drawn to church, ask for, and receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit before their water baptism. It is rare but does sometimes happen. In such a case, after the baptism of "fire" the Holy Spirit will lead this person into a baptism of water. Either way is fine.

The disciples of Jesus were baptised in the "baptism of John" first. That is the water baptism. Then, after Jesus ascended into heaven he told them to wait in Jerusalem until their baptism of fire. On that day - the day of Pentacost - the Spirit came as a rushing wind and filled all who were gathered there to pray. THEN, they had the power to boldly proclaim Jesus as the Christ, heal the sick, raise the dead, cast out demons and perform various other miracles. The disciples needed more than just a water baptism to do this and so do you.

The baptism of the Holy Spirit still exists today. You show me a preacher who walks like Jesus walked - healing the sick and boldly proclaiming repentence from sin - and I'll show you someone who has received the Baptism in the Holy Spirit. Again, do not be misled by well meaning people who may be in the ministry but have never received it. Preachers who have it can do so much more than preachers who don't. I know that by person experience and by observation. Seek and you shall find!

If God so loves the world why does the bible repeatedly refer to it as satans home not gods? why does the almighty allow such suffering and filth i mean he is god why not just squash that shit?
