Eyesight & Blurry Vision - How are we really meant to see the world? | |
Peregrinus User ID: 8163105 United States 01/13/2012 10:21 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I recall reading once that children/babies become nearsighted early on to block out any kind of non-love (for lack of a better word), they are seeing from their mother. I suppose that would be a form of self-protection. It is an interesting theory, though I am not sure it is correct. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1329586 Also have read that eating too much wheat when you are young will cause nearsightedness. At any rate, for me, as one who is nearsighted, I have noticed over the years that I am much more introverted and focused when I have my glasses on. Conversely, I become more extroverted and physically active with my contacts on. This part is interesting, I think I can relate. My vision is -9.5. I just recently started wearing glasses after wearing contacts all day everyday for 18 years. I notice that when I don't wear anything, it's like I am in my own world because I can't see anything clearly. When I wear glasses, I feel more focused but my vision is concentrated through the lenses with the absence of clear peripheral vision. With contacts, I am definitely much more aware of everything and I engage so much more. I was noticing that when I don't wear glasses or contacts, lights pulse when I look at them, and I can really see all these particles zooming in so many directions. I say "particles" simply because I lack the terminology to describe it. I am familiar with "floaters" but these are not floaters, they move so fast and they are everywhere. Electric Moon User ID: 1524351 United States 01/13/2012 11:20 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The more we use corrective lenses, the worse our eyes become. Aldous Huxley wrote an interesting book, The Art of Seeing, which advocates using eye exercises to improve vision instead of the downward spiral of corrective lenses. Quoting: Girl Genius The vision in my left eye has always been fine, but in my late 20s the distance vision in my right eye started to get blurry. I wore glasses for about five or six months (with a "windowpane" on the left side and prescription lens on the right), and I could see better with them, but whenever I took them off the vision in my right eye was blurrier than ever. The "corrective" lens was only making my weak eye weaker. So I stopped wearing them. I'm 45 now, and while I've seen some slight decline in my close vision in the last few years my distance vision is no worse than it was in my late 20s, before I got glasses. The distance vision in my right eye is still blurry, but I still see well enough to read street signs and pass the vision test for my driver's license, so as far as I'm concerned it's not a problem. I'll have to check out that Huxley book. One exercise I decided to try on my own was focusing on an object in the far distance for a few minutes at a time, several times a day. It seems to help counter-act the effects of sitting in front of a computer or reading books. I have dry eyes and that causes them to be blurry and irritated. [...] Anyway, went to a very well known doc that pioneered RK and Lasik surgery here in the US and he said "Just take fish oil". That simple. Quoting: Southern OR Omega-3 fish oil is amazing stuff. It not only helped my slightly dry eyes, but my skin looks so much better--it's amazing. Last Edited by Electric Moon on 01/13/2012 11:20 AM |

Corvus User ID: 9497177 Turkey 01/24/2012 02:53 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | First of all as i have mild myopia i would like to share my thoughts.First thing you should know that like other organs eyes ADAPT to changes. Nearsightedness mostly caused by too much near-work.I'll explain this further.Think of your muscles,if you use them more they will tighten and become harder over time in order to reduce energy waste thus becoming more efficent. This is same for your cilliary muscles in your eye IMAGE ( [link to www.thecountymedicalexaminers.com] ) Normally your lenses focus the far images right into your IMAGE ( [link to www.columbialasik.org] ) But when you do close work image cannot focus correctly to your retina IMAGE ( [link to www.lasik.co.nz] ) In order to correct this your cilliary muscles tighten up and your lense reshape to correct focusing back to normal. Now if you do near work too frequently as i said above your cilliary muscles remain tighten in order to adapt your new way of life.Tightening may become so strong over time it can reshape your eyeball by making it longer. Therefore after that when you look at distance you see blurry because image focus before retina, somewhere in vitreous. IMAGE ( [link to www.eyesurgerychoices.com] ) Now after you realized your myopia if you go to doctor he will most likely prescribe glasses to correct your vision.Thats when all the hall break loose. IMAGE ( [link to blog.eyebuydirect.com] ) After you begin to use your glasses if you continue to close work(thats a bit unavoidable in modern society) your cilliary muscles will tighten again to adapt close work again.Later you go doctor again,he gives you stronger glasses, your myopia worsen and this loop goes forever. So its best not to use glasses while doing close work.Because your eyes already adapted to near work What i write here all personally confirmed. So what can you do to regain your eyesight? *Avoid near work.If its impossible dont use your glasses if you are nearsighted,if you are not myopic then use +0.50-0.75 convex hypermetropia glasses. *Dont use your glasses outsides if not necessary.Or use lower prescription glases. This way your eyes will try to adapt longer distances. *Walk in countryside, forests, hills, seasides.Sit down, relax and focus on the horizon without glasses. *Stay away from stress and noisy areas. *Do meditation and palming(cover your eyes with your hands to prevent light and let it relax.Wash your eyes with cold water sometimes. *Do relaxing eye exercises *Sunshine is important for your eyes.Try to avoid artificial lights.Everyday in mornings close your eyes and face to sunlight for few minutes then do palming and washing. Do not trust doctors, most of them doesnt research independently they are brainwashed with orthodox medicine. They dont even know what causes myopia they claim its hereditary while its not. Most importantly belive in your mind power.Believe you can see clearly. Do not forget our body is designed to adapt different conditions and it can readapt if you drop off wrong ways in your life. I first get glasses when i was in middle-school and it ruined my eyesight much worse. My mild myopia was curable with most simple techniques but because of lame doctors(they advised me to wear them everytime) it just become much worse. I managed to lower my nearsightedness before from -4.15 to -3.00 by these techniques.Unfortunately i am too lazy and my current works dont left me much time to try these exercises. At least it does not go worse as i use my lower glasses when i do near work. Its not that easy, you should strictly avoid harmful things that i mentioned before inorder to readapt your eyes. |

Quoting: Corvus 9497177 I edited few things ^^ Also diet plays an important role for your eye health.Avoid sugar and dont consume too much cereal based foods.I suggest everyone to use paleo diet(mostly vegetables, fruits and some meat). Also avoid all kinds of processed food,i suggest you to use organic food. Nearsightedness was so rare in ancient times and nearsighted ones were just people who were doing close-work(mostly craftsmen). Our ancestors were spending much more times in he outside and to survive they needed strong eyesight unlike modern people who mostly rely on industrial civilization and technology. |
