My geiger counter is reading 5 to 10 cpm higher than a usual under the night time sky at 10:30pm at 20 - 30 cpm. I am getting hit clusters indicating some high energy particle collisions.

Gonna be a suck-ass next few days for me and my daughter.

That sounds like tinnitus and can be cured temporarily by listening to music in my own experience. I have it pretty bad, it came on suddenly after a blue oyster cult concert back in 75

Ten times higher than usual, or ten counts per minute higher than usual? Because I estimate I am getting about 30% higher than usual at 19 degrees latitude, which is only 1.33 higher than usual. Significant, but probably not deadly at these levels.

As I have repeatedly tried to point out, the magnetic field is not consistent.It is at approximately 20 nanotesla on the east coast right now, and I Guarantee they are getting fried right now and going to feel it tomorrow morning... The field strength (by interpolation) where you are is at around 50 nano tesla, I am very surprised you are not getting at least 5,000cpm. What have you got it set on and what kind of probe do you have??I'm getting 6500cpm right now.

I almost exclusively listen to classical music except when I'm working out in the gym. Even so, I stick to tame music (like Seal). I cannot remember the last concert I attended.

Have you got an alpha setting with high energy range? It has to have a range of between 10 and 100 MeV to detect this radiation. Most geiger counters dont.
If not you're not detecting the right thing

It's a Digilert with Alpha down to 2.5MeV, normally no clicks or one or two, but tonite 16cpm.

YEs, it goes DOWN to 2,5MeV, but how high does it go?
The point is, typical geiger counters a e not calibrated to register alpha particles in the range of 25-<100MeV because this type of radiation is seldom present in radioactive decay situations. It's limited to space weather type events.Try your x ray or gamma ray setting and put it behind a sheet of metal and see what happens.

If you are really getting 6500cpm right now you then you really are going to feel it in the morning. I know the type of phenomenon you have suggested might occur just in certain areas, and that CPM might measure differently from one type of Geiger counter from the other.

I have a Radalert 50, which is the older model, but with the same sensor (same relative cpm rate) as the newer models. I can push it up towards 1000 cpm if I stick it up against some thorium laced TIG welding anodes, but my meter has never made it up to 6500cpm before.

However the proton levels continue to rise exponentially and all the data pages are getting crazier, so let's see where this is headed. So far to me it looks to me and my measurements like the kind of event that astrophysicists notice, but that humanity passes without noticing. All the dogs are barking and cats are yeowling btw.

You are not understanding me, it's not the counts per minute I am talking about it is the energy range or velocity of the proton. the typical geiger counter is tuned to detect alpha particles from radioactive decay, nit highly accelerated protons like occur during space weather events.

6500cpm means the magnetosphere and atmosphere are stopping a hell of a lot of it at the moment, and my shit works. I am in my hardened room but if the proton flux continues its rise Im sleeping in the bunker.6500cmp at an average of 75 MeV is not dangerous, Ive been through a hell of a lot worst

I understand AA, I probably don't read enough of the spectrum. But I am getting hit clusters inside where I sleep, behind several thick concrete walls and floors above me. That indicates that high energy stuff is penetrating.

AA, So...can you point me to the sun disk where plasma cloud impingement is happening? Is the earth gonna be between the cloud and sun in Dec?

Yeah, just saw that, this is not good, not at all. Pray the proton flux levels off or we will see mass human deaths. There is essentially nothing deflecting charged particles ATM. The magnetosphere has been oscillating in a basic sine wave pattern, but damned, it's going to be a while before it recovers, and there is the possibility with the high energy high flux protons it wont this time. this could be the Carrignton event..we have about ten nanotesla at the moment here, it's zero in the pacific off the coast of California, and my compass is unusable at the moment.

Indoors with concrete all around just a moderate 15 to 20 cpm, cant even say it is above normal as far as an average, but every now and then I get a rapid fire cluster of hits, indicating some nearby high-energy collisions and resulting showers of daughter particles.

The earth is going to be between the sun and the galactic center in precise alignment on 12/21/12. If you saw the CME's earlier today and this week,CME's much more powerful and intense than those will be pulled by the vortex of electromagnetic energy of the galactic center towards the earth.
