^This^

That guitar-go-round nonsense went out with the last of the early 90's Glamfags... or at least it should have.

5*'s for flying guitars!

That's almost how I lost my Gibson Mach 5 bass. The strap on this sweet 5 string came free at the bottom and snapped off it's neck as it hit the concrete. No one will touch it. I keep promising myself to do it....

After that, we painted quarter sized washers with enamel paint, and installed them on every guitar and bass.

Bought that at the New Orleans Music Exchange on Magazine in '97. Now it's wall art.

Properly installed straploks don't break...it's the worn out
leather hole that sits on the straplok that fails!

Once that leather hole is worn...it makes a nice belt
to hold up your pants or to hang on the wall...not
to be trusted on your guitar.

I've never had a neck break on-stage (have knocked my guitar over & snapped the headstock) but I have had guitars fall off a few times mid-song before discovering Straploks... that's never fun.

Re: A guitarist's NIGHTMARE
I had a 98 les paul standard fall off the stage, and it didn't break! it was a total fluke. Had a huge 6 inch gouge in the back of the body, gave it some character, like any battle wound would. I sold that guitar to buy a 58 reissue. Still miss that standard to this day!

Wasn't onstage...just jamming.

The neck on my late hubby's Gibson Les Paul snapped mid-song onstage once. It was the strangest thing to see...it kind of just flew open.

Someone in the audience later tells him it's a common thing with those guitars. Luckily, it was repaired. Just like the fan told him...it actually WAS better after the fix. That was bizarre.

Lol. Thankfully I bought into straplocks a long time ago as well because I was afraid something like that could happen to me

Only thing that's happened to me is I was playing at this ranch with my band and my E string broke and wacked me right in the eye -- pretty much blinding me for the whole night, had to call off the gig because of it.. The rock and roll Gods can be such dicks every now and then

Yeah I actually hear about Les Pauls necks cracking a lot as well.. There's uneven weight distribution, not to mention the guitar itself is way to freakin heavy.

That'd be the weirdest shit to see that on stage though.. Lol

Gah!

The worst thing that ever happened to me was when laid down my guitar & dove off of a 6' high stage during a drum solo & slammed into the concrete floor with nothing breaking my fall... stage-diving was a big thing back then.

The crowd wasn't packed enough on the side of the stage I ran to & dove off of & I guess the ones that were there kinda shied-away from the 6'3" 220lb meat-missile that was flying towards them unexpectedly... *BWAM!* It knocked the wind outa me & I -then- still had to get back up & finish the song/set.

Ouch!

That's something I've never witnessed. I've seen fires gone wrong, and, all sorts of crazy shit (shit included) on the stage at cbgb's, but, never a failed dive.

But, it is a cool story you have. Ha! "Meat missle"

That was fucking hilarious! I almost did that once, but I was smart enough to have locking strap connectors on my axe, so I just knocked myself in the head! I was drunk as fuck at the time so it didn't matter, plus we were playing death metal in that band so no one gave a fuck either way.
