just got a chilling thought, is “the rubber band” stretching ?? since this graph was put up, this steady down trend is rather unusual, as is the linear decent as is happening now at HEK.
The Hekla alert can be regarded appropriate cover for any other largish coming from the area´s east of Hekla and across the rubber towards Laki. [link to hraun.vedur.is]

about Hekla (not for you, special "fearmonger's edition"pump2)

In Icelandic Hekla is the word for a short hooded cloak which may relate to the frequent cloud cover on the summit. An early Latin source refers to the mountain as Mons Casule.[2]

After the eruption of 1104, stories (which were probably spread deliberately through Europe by Cistercian monks) told that Hekla was the gateway to Hell.[3]billgates
The Cistercian monk Herbert of Clairvaux wrote in his De Miraculis (without naming Hekla):

The renowned fiery cauldron of Sicily, which men call Hell's chimney ... that cauldron is affirmed to be like a small furnace compared to this enormous inferno.[4]
—Herbert of Clairvaux, Liber De Miraculis, 1180
A poem by the monk Benedeit from circa 1120 about the voyages of Saint Brendan mentions Hekla as the prison of Judas.

The Flatey Book Annal wrote of the 1341 eruption that people saw large and small birds flying in the mountain's fire which were taken to be souls.[5] In the 16th century Caspar Peucer wrote that the Gates of Hell could be found in "the bottomless abyss of Hekla Fell". The belief that Hekla was the gate to Hell persisted until the 1800s.[4] There is still a legend that witches gather on Hekla for Easter.[6]

In the 1947 eruption, the last really big one, 14 m (46 ft) were added to its summit. In that eruption the volcano spewd up a column of ash as high as 28 000 meters into the atmosphere. The ash fell as far away as Russia.

The quiet (or repose) period between Hekla's eruptions has ranged from 16 years to 121 years. A tendency toward longer repose intervals has occurred between the later eruptions.

Eruptions in Hekla are extremely varied and difficult to predict . Some are very short (a week to ten days) whereas others can stretch into months and years (the 1947 eruption started March 29, 1947 and ended April 1948).

Over the past 7000 years Hekla has had five big fissure eruptions. The biggest eruptions were 4000 and 2800 years ago. Traces of these two eruptions can be found in the soil in the North and the North-East of Iceland. The biggest layer of tephra from one eruption fell in the eruption 2800 years ago. It covers about 80% of the country and its volume was around 12 cubic km. Traces of it has been found in various places in Scandinavia.

afro my 2 cents

in mentioned above the writings of medieval monks also written that Hekla is the gateway to hell, it states also that every year at Easter on Hekla are going to a coven.
as Easter this year on March, 31th,
respectively, before that date, while this party continues, the gates of hell shall not open to avoid to harm his servants.

party probably will last a week plus after a coven should also have time to fly away for their countries (not experiencing the problems that arose in many passengers during the eruption Ejafya with a lot cancelled flights) - is another week.

finally, then Lady must sleep off well to score a good shape, remove debris remaining after the party, to put
makeup and send invitations to guests (the more tourists move out at the beginning of representation, the better it will be) - it's additional week or two.

Total can be considered issued here above forecast the eruption of the end of April or May is quite scientifically sound
(at least, not less justified than "responsesyou know where grinning)

more detail if cited above not enough for clarity.

first, while the epicenters of earthquakes are deep enough, which is why serious volcanologists does not raise such a panic as you well know where (where for every eq were 3 comments tounge).

second, read more carefully what depths of the ocean in places of the eqs: from one to two kilometers.
if you remember physics, you can easily find what it needs to overcome the pressure magma to reach the surface.
Only when (and if) the tremors begin in shallow water and close to the shore (as was in the case with Bob) here then will have a real reason to worry.

Third, similar movements of magma (which apparently really is, judging by the tremor) in the area of local faults (and they are there, but not very well known) may well be an indicator of future tectonic events (read it here in this thread about Recent studies about the "lubricant" on the faults), and eruption may be or may not be.

Finally, even if the eruption and held (and perhaps is already at the bottom?),
and you and i and all authors of "reponses" can never anything about him not reliably know:

again it is necessary to remind the depth of the ocean and read about the hydrology around the island (the presence of strong currents).
and can think about the recent brilliant discovery of Erik Klemetti, who was able to "calculate" volcanic source of great island of pumice about New Zealand on satellite imagery -
it was really a great success, but i think it can infrequently and only when the "footprint" of the eruption of such huge size, as it was in possession of Erik.

El Hierro is another case.

you will be swept away, but so far, the greatest danger of what is happening around him I think the probability of a large landslide after a strong quake, no eruption (of course I do not mean "megatsunami" ohyeah)

watching the last days of one eye and for Etna, and that's what an interesting correlation comes to mind:
active Etna - Canary sleep,
quietly on Etna - begins the next El Hierro "crisis".
brings to mind an open German geophysicists huge lava "tunnel" from the Canary Islands under mountains in Morocco and Tunisia - perhaps even to Sicily? cool2

it was really a great success, but i think it can infrequently and only when the "footprint" of the eruption of such huge size, as it was in possession of Erik.

El Hierro is another case.

you will be swept away, but so far, the greatest danger of what is happening around him I think the probability of a large landslide after a strong quake, no eruption (of course I do not mean "megatsunami" ohyeah)

New insights into volcanic activity from strain and other deformation data for the Hekla 2000 eruption

...For the last eruption in 2000 we constrain the magma geometry by using a wide variety of deformation data: campaign GPS; an InSAR interferogram; dry tilt data, and borehole strain data. The dike that causes surface fissuring extends no more than ~ 0.5 km in depth, and the reservoir depth is ~ 10 km. These are connected by a conduit of small lateral extent. Data for previous eruptions are consistent with this model. We propose that the marked change in eruption interval is because this conduit remains liquid during the short interval between recent eruptions; only a small pressure increase is required to rupture the thin crustal seal. Such a state is consistent with precursory seismicity being confined to very shallow depths and may be applicable to other volcanoes that undergo abrupt changes in eruption interval.

brief remark for vc fans (yet they have not reached)tounge

whatever it is that today there are out there, such as:

-anyone else notice the ring around *Hekla?
-Hekla itself is aseismic
-There is a hell of a lot of sheer stress in this region
- to do with the MAR / plate boundaries
-article at [link to www.sciencedirect.com] "New insights into volcanic activity from strain and other deformation data for the Hekla 2000 eruption"
-etc.
including real state of affairs with El Hierro

we already discussed here in details yesterday (and most part a lot time before) peace

and now. i guess really extremely important, value and alarming thread

Methane linked to Seismic Activity in the Arctic
...In conclusion, methane in the Arctic can be linked to seismic activity. As temperatures of deep waters of the Arctic Ocean keep rising, further seismic activity can be expected to trigger further releases of methane from hydrates that are likely to make the planet uninhabitable within decades. Only rapid cooling of the oceans' waters can avoid this. To accomplish this, even a complete cessation of carbon dioxide emissions by developed and developing nations combined will not suffice...

Passing by to read the alarming news abot El Hierro. Found this image over FB. Look at the size of these rocks!

here more reliable and without nor groundless panic hf

more detail if cited above not enough for clarity.

first, while the epicenters of earthquakes are deep enough, which is why serious volcanologists does not raise such a panic as you well know where (where for every eq were 3 comments tounge).

second, read more carefully what depths of the ocean in places of the eqs: from one to two kilometers.
if you remember physics, you can easily find what it needs to overcome the pressure magma to reach the surface.

Hierro still shaking

The seismic crisis is going on at El Hierro. 175 quakes were recorded on March 27th with 6 events above M 4, at depths between 15 and 20 km. They were felt on several islands of the archipelago, La Palma for instance. 30 quakes were above M 3.

INVOLCAN has published on its Facebook page a photo showing rockfalls on a cliff in the El Golfo area. No doubt local authorities should advise people to avoid the areas that are exposed to this danger!

Volcano Activity in Peru on Tuesday, 26 March, 2013 at 09:59 (09:59 AM) UTC.
Peruvian scientists have warned that Arequipa's Sabancaya Volcano is currently in a pre-eruptive stage. According to Domingo Ramos, head of volcano monitoring at Peru's Geological, Mining and Metallurgical Institute (Ingemmet), Sabancaya's activity has led the agency to issue a yellow alert. "We have already talked with local authorities so that they can warn the nearby population, about the volcano's status, and how to prepare before an eventual eruption," Ramos said according to the daily...

(at previous pages here posted a lot info about state of affairs with Sabancaya)

add for El Hierro

as clearly seen from these maps and data
[link to volcans.blogs-de-voyage.fr]
[link to www.emsc-csem.org]

now depth epicenters have now some trend to increase (from 12-14 to 16-20 km)
now epicenters migrated to the general trend in the south
the depth of the ocean in their locations are isobaths between 1500 - 3000 meters (not significantly change on the path of migration)

watching the last days of one eye and for Etna, and that's what an interesting correlation comes to mind:
active Etna - Canary sleep,
quietly on Etna - begins the next El Hierro "crisis".
brings to mind an open German geophysicists huge lava "tunnel" from the Canary Islands under mountains in Morocco and Tunisia - perhaps even to Sicily? cool2

then the question :
Etna seems going "up"

if it confirms, then is whether the El Hierro seismic crisis ends ? wakeup

useful exchange of viewshf

and about Hekla. remember John complained that its seismometers prevents washing machine tounge

let's think logically.
if his charts Hecla now everything is quiet, it means that the washing machine is turned off.
but there is another conclusion: Hekla now too
