Why do black people call white people crackers?

because of the sound of the whip the slave master put on his slave. The crackling sound caught on and became a name for whites.

I thought it was because crackers themselves look white.

I used to affiliate it with white crackers like Saltines, but I heard once it was because slave owners cracked whips.

Ummm, guess this is a joke, 'cause there's all kinds of different colored crackers out there. Actually, cracker is just a shortened version of crack whore. I thought that's common knowledge.

I say this as someone who is mostly an ethnic cracker.

When I hear someone call me a cracker or say the word cracker, my world isn't destroyed. I don't demand that the person who used the word cracker be fired from their job and be publicly denounced. I don't yell, scream, or cry if someone asks me to pass the saltines. If someone who is a different color from me dares to want to eat goldfish crackers, I don't yell that they don't have the right. I don't believe that only crackers should have the right to use crackers.

Why do we let other ethnic groups control our language?

I was told that in the 40s and 50s when white people would go cruisin on the strip or main drag of the town they would drive by the pretty black chicks and blow their horns at them. Thats why they started calling them "honkies".
