What ever happened to innocent until proven guilty? Why do people so freely go along with "this is just the way it is"?

This is just the tip of the iceberg. Very very very few people seem to get what's not right. Instead, they adjust their lives to conform to what they are told is right.

Otherwise law-abiding citizens are condemned to limit their job searches to companies that don't restrict their candidates to those who never partake.

I'm not talking cocaine or meth or effing heroine. I'm talking pot. What happened to freedom in this country? It is no more. I can't even find a job.

I guess maybe I should just come right out and say that it's the criminal bandits making out on the the drug testing thing that's pissing me off right now.

Thank you for listening.

Maybe I didn't make myself clear. I smoke dope but in very small amounts. In street terms, a nickel bag would last me a month, OK?

But that's not even the point, really.

The point is that we should not have to submit to this kind of treatment.

I would imagine that certain occupations would require this, for sure. For example, doctors and airline pilots.

I'M AN OFFICE WORKER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Or a least I used to be.

I hate what America has become.

Completely agree with you, OP. It's a gross infringement of privacy. I can see this for people who operate heavy machinery or fly airplanes or fill prescriptions, but I'm an office worker too and there is NO REASON for anyone to know what I do on my off time.

What makes it worse is the really nasty drugs -- meth, speed, coke -- are out of your system in days. Stay clean for 72 hours no problem. But really who do you want working for you -- someone who smokes a little of the Good Green Herb in the evenings or someone who spends every weekend tweaking or passed out drunk?

It's outrageous, but people buy into the propaganda, especially when it feeds into their racist fears, which is how pot became illegal in the first place.

No one was ever innocent until proven guilty, that was a recent addition to mankind. In fact early man has always been barbaric, primitive and ruthless. Reason was not something many people cared to put substance in.

We're supposed to hold that ideal in this country. Of course we've fallen far, far, far from it, if we ever truly practiced it in the first place. Still that doesn't mean we should roll over and take it.

Let's not stop there.

What about all the prescription drugs that people are making kagillions of dollars on? Let's see............

And how many side affects do they have? Are they tested? No. All because of money.

Period.

It's all money. It's all evil.

I hate prescriptions. Gawd. My mom couldn't even make me take a valium when I was flipping out as a kid.

Agree completely OP, and I've made the same argument many times over. It's amazing how many people don't even care that they are OWNED by their 'employers'.

It doesn't matter if you smoke or not, it's the principle!

If I can't smoke pot on my days off, then I am nothing but company property.

Sickening!!

I want a report of what my employer is doing and when he's doing it an who he's doing to to.

I bet that would cause a fuss.

Oh, yeah, and it's MANDATORY.

Wow.

You had to choose between : (a) getting the job, or (b) pot.

And you chose the pot.

It's hard to quit, isn't it? I hope young people will see this thread and resolve to just never get started on the stuff.

Wow.

I had to choose between being : (a) being a good little puppet, or (b) having my own belief.

And I chose what's right.

So there is absolutely zero liability you could create on your job because you choose to have a drug in your system at work? Companies that test and fire for pot also do the same thing for alcohol or unreported prescription drugs. You do not have a RIGHT to their job.

Are you on dope?

Perhaps you are. I would never know because I'm not an employer or a pharm insider. Shall we talk about THOSE side effects, sir or madam?

Here's the thing, Watson.

I WOULD NEVER EVER GO TO WORK UNDER THE INFLUENCE. EVER.

What I choose to do on my own time should be mine. As long as I'm doing a good job.

Period.
