I'm 38 and I do not recall a time when I was not "awake' (for a lack of a better term).

I don't think we should indulge anyone in a pity party, but I won't hesitate to offer some support if I think I've got a clue about what the person needs to hear. I also don't see the need to lord it over anyone who is feeling hopeless.

People may feel they are brighter, have a better work ethic, are better looking, or more talented than the majority of people but the truth is, there are those who struggle all their lives even with an abundance of these qualities. It's rather arrogant to think otherwise and foolish that the American dream is possible for anyone who would only just get a job.

Some Jewish families had their fortunes plucked from their hands in the blink of an eye and this could happen again at any time. Having said that, and at the risk of touching the 'freedom' nerve, I won't hesitate to rebuke any young veteran (or their supporters) who might want to take/give them(selves) credit for the rights and freedoms our society enjoyed after WWII. I often thought for me personally, the best form of rebellion would be to take survival training and live out in the woods for a while. In any case, it would be a good adventure. Aside from that, keeping busy is sound advice.

With age usually comes an increased sense of importance and value in doing things that youth takes for granted, depression struggles to accomplish, and poverty makes poignant; that is, the simple tasks of caring for ourselves on a daily basis, fixing meals, making our bed, taking out the garbage, caring for a pet or family member.

my dignity is something that can not be taken from me, but only given away by my own doing which, I ensure you will never occur unless I have been manipulated into a complete unconscious state of being.

I would die on my feet 100,000 times under great physical and mental pains rather than serving on my knees.

I apologize if I came off as requiring pity. It's not in my nature to seek pity for myself. it's more of my instinct to take on the suffering of others due to a deep sense of integrity and gut intuition that giving rather than taking from others is a noble and honorable truth.

We all know pain. We all know loss. We all understand the feelings of hopelessness at least at one or more stages of our lives. We aare more alike than we are different.

All men (mankind) seek one thing more than anything, and despite popular dogma, it is not happiness but rather the absence of pain/suffering.

The conditioning of the individual as being a sort island and hence the severing of our natural human instinct to feel sorrow for another's grief serves as a means to further diminish our humanity and perhaps arguably our evolution.


Pity, when defined as understanding and compassion for another, in my opinion, is an essential defining characteristic humanity (not to be mistaken as solely a human ability, mind you), and thus cauation must be exercised least one take the risk of losing himself into nothing more than a cyborg (for lack of a better term).

I am a woman, tough as nails, I am not one to seek pity or mere attention from personal inconveniences (at least i hope not. I dont perceive myself in that way at all).

Yet I too and human and I do not wish to become so desensitized to my fellow man that I do not feel sorrow, pain and dare I even say anger when I see intolerable acts of injustices committed against him/her.
