This is what I think is going on in Clintonville,WI;


I think I found the culprit. Look at the "Cutaway to the Craton" picture in this link;

Throughout much of the central United States, younger sedimentary rocks conceal the craton. But in Michigan, Wisconsin, and Minnesota — as well as throughout much of Canada — it is well-exposed.

If you notice in the picture, the failed North American Craton rift runs right through Wisconsin and right through the town of Clintonville. IMHO it is most likely starting to crack in sections under Clintonville, Wisconsin explaining the sounds these folks are hearing. They say the sound is coming from underneath their feet and not too far down. Well if you read above, in that area of Clintonville, the craton is well exposed and not very deep.

This must be the cause of these mysterious booms and shake. The North American Craton has been showing signs of movement in recent years. Here is a thread I started that shows just what I am saying here;

is montello also over this area. i say most likely if it is south of clintonville.

The New Madrid area is part of the failed Reelfoot rift where the
North American plate tried to pull apart... also there is a SECOND
rift that crosses at the New Madrid... that rift goes from
Washington state to Georgia.

The two rifts together make a giant X, the center of that X
is the New Madrid.

Wow, thanks for the pin! My first!

I'm a little freaked out because I'm in St. Louis and for the last hour, we have had some sort of booming and loud banging noise out here in the city. I'm about to drive around and check and see if there's construction going on near here or something. It sounds like a large piece of machinery or something hitting something...... BOOM! ....... BOOM!...... BOOM!.... It stops for a couple of minutes then starts again.... and another odd occurrence is the birds have been singing here at night for 2 straight weeks. It's the strangest thing.

Anyone check out what's happening down on the New Madrid? I decided to check.. check it out..

When digging underground, sometimes you will run into a different formation or strata of a different type of rock, i.e. it's easy digging if you are in sandstone, but, hit up against some basalt, and, your drilling is going NOWHERE without changing the bits every 10 feet.

SO, what do they do??... They blast it out, until they can get through it.. There will likely be more booms, here and there..

It's tunneling and blasting, probably deep enough to not hear the tunneling, just the blasting...

I heard it right as a car passed by but the two sounds kind of intermingled. But you can hear it again around 44 seconds. I noticed one thing, the birds aren't singing tonight. I didn't film very long but I'm filming again, I have my camera on the window sill right now.

What is up with Texas tonight, it is like you guys have doom envy or something.

Guys I'm in the very Northwest part of TN and am about 15 minutes from the Kentucky state line.. I heard a thunder like sound today and birds were going a little crazy last night.. my dog has been fine though, and he has very bad anxiety if something bad is about to happen, especially storms. So I'm kind of doubting that thunder sound was actually thunder..

Clintonville appears to be real, brother, but sounds like you are hearing thunder.

Be happy you are not in Clintonville, rather than hoping to have it spread.

The days are strange enough without wishing for them to be stranger.

also I wanted to add that I've been hearing very loud sounds. The only way to explain it is a semi going down the highway if you are at the right distance it makes a huge humming sound I guess from the tires on the road or hitting the little grooves on the side of the road ocasionally but the weird thing is it was in the opposite direction of the highway and lasted for 30 minutes or so and I eventually fell asleep so idk if it kept going or not. Picture a huge semi.. like 20-30 times the actual size going down the road at 100+ mph and you are off in the distance listening to it.. does anybody get what I'm trying to say? lol

Could it be ground water seeping from out of the Great Lakes forming a new underground river?

Ebb must flow it's 3/22 skull an bownes(misspelled on purpose) dontcha know. If we can make it through today with no live<-- I pray for peace and don't utter the names, not to give it power only to drain. All glory to God.

It's definitely not thunder. It's still going on. It's a systematic sound. The storms still haven't even reached St. Louis yet. I'm going to film some more and see if I can catch it again and post it. There is no rumbling like thunder. Just BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

I'm glad I'm not in Clintonville, but I don't feel much safer being in the strike zone of the New Madrid, ya know? :)
