Re: Eczema Anybody know of a good, natural cure?????
I cured my eczema by avoiding NIGHTSHADES

I finally found a cure by realizing that Eczema is a reaction to certain foods or chemicals. I’ve had eczema for as long as I could remember and it wasn’t until recently that I figured out NIGHTSHADES (peppers, eggplant, tomatoes…) were the source of my skin irritations. Since then, I've been eczema-free.

Start by eliminating certain foods after a rash occurs so that you can figure out what to avoid. I wish a doctor had told me that simple truth a long time ago, but then again, most are in the business of making money, not giving permanent cures.

A lot, if not all things can be healed naturally. To cure it, it’s not about putting ointments or shea butter on it, those only mask the symptoms- with eczema, it’s simply about eliminating substances you react to.

organic coconut oil
google it
 Quoting: Tallulah

Yes! But you can make it even more effective by doing the following:

After getting out of the shower, spray the affected areas with Apple Cider vinegar. (It will burn like hell for a couple minutes, but it will ultimately be worth it.) Let the vinegar air dry and then apply the coconut oil.

Do this to your skin again before you go to bed at night.

(You might smell like a weird salad for an hour or so, but the odor does fade.)

To speed recovery, replace ALL of your cooking oils/butters with organic coconut oil and consume the equivalent of one to two tbsp. of the oil each day.

You can further your healing by consuming a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar mixed in 6-8 ounces of water twice a day, AFTER MEALS, once in the morning and once at night. It tastes gross, so you can add some stevia to it to sweeten it up. (Avoid adding any real or artificial sugars, as this will slow down your healing.

In a couple of days you will notice the eczema getting dry and "tight". Keep going. This means it is working. It will start to flake off and you will see new, pink skin beginning to emerge.

Keep up the treatment for at least a week after the skin appears to be completely healed.

Afterward, keep the coconut oil and cider vinegar in your diet, to prevent flare-ups.

(If you are having a hard time getting used to the coconut oil flavor, look into Asian recipes. Thai food is AWESOME, and it uses tons of coconut oil. Plus, their diet is a lot healthier than the typical American diet, which will also serve to clear up your skin.)

^^^^ Aside from its antibiotic, antispasmodic, and antianxiety effects, Manuka Oil has been found, anecdotally, to be beneficial in many other ways:

Eczema
Stomach ulcers
Fungal infections
Sunburn
Athlete’s foot
Nail bed infections
Foot odor (most likely through combatting fungal infection)
Dandruff
Insect bites and stings: promotes healing and eases pain
Anti-inflammatory, especially in insect bites & stings
Anti-histamine: eases asthma and hay fever, eases allergy symptoms
It is also finding use in Aromatherapy.

Re: Eczema Anybody know of a good, natural cure?????
I have suffered from eczema all my life and was given topical steroid creams as a small child. Over the years instead of growing out of the eczema it got worse and the creams got stronger until one day I put the strongest steroid cream on and minutes later was scrubbing it off under hot water with a scrubbing brush. I couldn't use it.

This lead me in researching to Dr Marvin Rapaport a top dermatologist at UCLA. Please research 'Marvin Rapaport Topical Steroid Addiction' and'Red Skin Syndrome' on Youtube there is an interview with Dr Rapaport where he explains that it is the steroid creams that are causing the problem.

Eczema runs in families and does in mine. My Dad is one of 5 and remembers my Gran always treated the children with eczema with Zinc & Castor Oil cream - they all grew out of it. I questioned my older cousins (now in their 50s, I am 41) and they all grew out of it - I didn't and was the only one treated with steroids as a child. I guess they were getting more widely used when it got to my turn and my parents just did as the Doctor said...

Anyway - it is not easy. You have to cut the creams out completely and it will get worse, much worse, before recovery sets in - and it does if you can manage. I am halfway through the process which takes up to 2 years. I cannot describe how much I have suffered with my skin but all my symptoms point to Dr Marvin Rapaport's research being correct. The medical establishment are not sympathetic - steroids are their answer and they do not want to hear that they are actually the problem. Rapaport bets that their are very few real cases of adult eczema rather they are caused by the creams.

Historically it was always a childhood problem. I can see this with my own 3 years old son - he gets it but I never ever put steroids on it. He has a good diet, low in dairy and if his skin is bad we cut the dairy for a while. His eczema mainly shows on backs of his legs, wrists and inside his elbow - normal for eczema, one day it can look really awful but the next calm. I suspect it is during the red phase that parents run to the Doc and get the steroid. I would beg all parents not to do this they are in all liklihood condemning their child to a lifetime of misery with their skin.

My little boy lets me know what to do - I use sulphur soap - it really helps but sometimes he feels he doesn't need it, other times he asks me to soap his legs and arms. I trust him to know best, it is his skin he knows what feels right.

Anyway sorry for the long post. I have found the following to be very helpful;

Dermalex - not on prescription here in the UK and expensive but worth it for me anyway.

snowfire - very old fashioned remedy still on sale at amazon.co.uk but scare in the shops now.

Sulphur soap really helps with the itch.

Egyptian magic is a very good for moisturizing.

Epsom salts in the bath

A bottle of white vinegar in the bath helps with the itch and is cheap too.

Only wear natural fibres e.g hemp, cotton and wash using mild soaps e.g I use ecover.

Good luck hf

I have some and have used it off and on since July. It works while I'm on it but it quickly returns with more vehemence. :( I hate the idea of being on it forever, worry about the long term effects and was hoping to find an alternative that was as effective or advice for permanently eradicating it. :)

I greatly appreciate you folks who jumped in with advice!! Very, very frustrating to deal with. Much thanks GLPer's!!!!

You could try this: I had dermatitis every year. Can you say itch?! I was given a prescription pill Lamisil, which is an antifungal, for toe fungus and it cleared all my other fungus up too. Same with my husband and you know, all the jock itch was gone! Out of pocket it is a very cheap prescription. My doc thought I had a Candida overgrowth. I am so happy I ran across this because it was a problem that was really messing my life up.

Re: Eczema Anybody know of a good, natural cure?????
First of all, get medical confirmation it is excema. If confirmed, use a thick, oily moisturiser as often as you can through the day, every day, and before bed. Don't use water based cream such as aqueous cream as this is actually drying in the long run. Take Oat baths (anti inflammatory) and salt baths (helps skin retain moisture) a few times a week.
Keep doing this. You will notice improvement within a couple days. Eventually, the excema may appear to completely go but you still need maintenance baths once a week and moisturizing 3 times a day. This is to help prevent flair up. If you do get flair up, treat intensively till it goes then treat with maintenance doses.

Use very mild cleanser when u shower or try washing with doublebase cream. Don't let your hands come into contact with strong detergents. Try a mild brand such as ecover.

NOTHING topical will cure it. You are allergic to something you are eating every day. Probably wheat and or dairy. Get an allergy test and don't be a stubborn idiot about continuing to eat stuff you're allergic to like my brother who ought to know better :P

Aveno has some nice stuff to put in the bath for eczema specifically, and there are some other products too. The only other over the counter thing that helped the itch was a lotion with coco butter.

I haven't had personal experience but have done some research online and it does seem to help if taken in the correct proportions with piperine. Piperine is commonly found in black pepper.

it's probably not "eczema" at all, but some type of fungal infection. Use a diluted bleach mixture -- 3 tablespoons to a quart of water, put in a small spray bottle and spray and rub into the area a few times a day. You won't BELIEVE the relief.

Whatever "remedies" you try, try the cheapest first. This is among the cheapest. You will run into A LOT of BULLSHIT remedies in your quest for relief, believe me!

You have an immunity problem! Figure out what triggers it and eliminate that. Read some of booger cancer's posts (do a adv search).

I have a friend that had it really badly over his whole face/body and he would get really incensed by it sometimes, almost like a feverish full body scratch. He had it all his life and I didn't know him any other way. He went to the dead sea for 2-3-4 weeks (can't remember) and bathed in the sea all the time. It fixed him almost straight away, it was weird. He came home and it was pretty much gone. It wasn't an accident, he went there for his Eczema, but it worked. Look it up.
