I've always wondered this? There is no other creature on Earth even remotely close to human intelligence. If you say dolphins are, you're wrong. They are smart but are unable to match what human beings are capable of accomplishing. Has there been anything on Earth as intelligent as human beings? Were we bred this way? Are we even from here? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 12336554 Human beings are definitely the strangest creature on Earth. Only humans have souls IMO. I think that our souls control our bodies via the pineal gland. Somehow each soul is tuned to just one body. Although with identical twins, there appears to be some cross-talk. Some twins are known to finish each others' sentences and communicate telepathically. |

People who think humans are the "most intelligent" creatures on Earth are the problem with the Earth today. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 6289134 No life is "more intelligent" than another. You are no smarter than the bacteria that has lived since the dawn of time. Look at what other life has accomplished and tell me that humans are the most intelligent. I understand from a social and cultural point of view how most humans have taken the bait that we are more intelligent -- it frees us from guilt for what we do to the rest of life on this planet; but please, at the very least research in depth what you are talking about before promoting propaganda. Humans = not so intelligent. however, we are unique in our externalization of imagination. that is not a measure of intelligence, it is just a uniqueness of expression. We are different - not more intelligent. FWIW, If anything viruses are the most intelligent life forms (though by biological definition they are not really "alive") I never said that humans are better than anything else on Earth, cause obviously we're not. That's not the point. We are the dominate species on this planet, for better or worse, because of our intelligence. That is a fact. We dominate all other creatures for better or worse. This isn't something to be proud of, its just the way it is. Human beings have capabilities that no other creature has ever demonstrated in real practice EVER! Our intelligence allows us to look at things outside of ourselves and go far beyond basic instinct which is what all other creatures rely solely on. Our intelligence (not wisdom, not instinct) is unique on this planet. No other creature can remotely come close to it. Period. So you rule out ETs that have not only developed similarly but have gone onto being spacefaring folks don't exist? We are the only smart ones? |

LMAO, this thread just had another GLP moment. The fact that there are people who are literally convinced that animals are as smarter as (or even smarter than) humans(!) makes me believe that this thread is the only thing that could possibly prove their point. ROFL Quoting: Anonymous Coward 355530 Well, if I thought you had the capacity to see past your own prejudices and would actually care to read, I would gladly show you studies that human "intellect", however one wishes to define it, is hardly superior to that of other creatures on the planet. I will give you a simple example... mycocepurus smithii from the Amazon, a super feminist species that has developed the ability to reproduce via cloning — dispensing with both sex and males — to evolve into an all-female breed. Humans are still trying to figure out this one, and would never dream of doing it without outside resources. [link to news.bbc.co.uk] |

Ants and bees plan and build complex geometric structures, have complex language and social structures. Farm, harvest, and deal with traffic jams. Bears are pretty smart too, elephants use tools...so there are some examples of intelligent "planning" by animals that is more than mere instinct. But even so, man is different. We learn by watching and mimicry but then we take that to a whole other level and make it our own. ants communicate "telepathically?" (who knows), but, in any event all the thousands of ants in one nest act as "one entity" in accomplishing all of the complex things a colony does. |

Dolphins have the same intelligence as the smarter of us all and gorillas have about 90 IQ. Quoting: Birdie Birdie Stanford-Binet or did they measure it with the Wechsler. I wonder how the gorillas did on the picture vocabulary multiple choice, oh they got a a zero, because they cannot speak. Oh I see, you pulled that 90 IQ out of your ass without any scientific proof. Have you ever seen a gorilla perform open heart surgery on a sick child? Have you ever seen a dolphin build a hospital? The Pyramids were not built by rogue deer in a fit of creativity. Do cattle enjoy art, does the killer whale create classic works of music? Men and women are able to perform great works of love in this world. Your disdain for humans and self-loathing is quite evident. |
