This move has been decades in the works. I've BEEN to both islands.

Radiation lvl is HIGH, so what you expect? Other then that Japan will sink in Volcano or be swollen in EQ. All should leave now.

US cut off japan's oil supplies first, and dragged Japanese military goverment into war, so then US can get rid off the isolationism.

First time posting.

I was a little curious if there was a timetable that was announced when the government would move the 9,000 Marines? I believe the troops won't be moved around for a long numbers of years. IMO I believe it's just news telling the public, while nothing really changes in the back.

I find this similar to the case in South Korea. The South Korean and the US government agreed to close down bases and cut the numbers of troops stationed in South Korea. That agreement was made almost a decade ago. One the major plans were the move the main U.S. Military (mostly Army) base that is located smack dab in the middle of Seoul, South Korea. The South Korean government even drove out farmers in the Norther Area, outside of Seoul to start building a new base. However you almost see no progress of moving, even after all these years. Although a couple of small bases have closed down, the number of troops didn't really dramatically go down. None of the main bases such as Yongsan, in Seoul or Osan Air base outside of Seoul has had changes to get ready to move. I don't know about the Air base, but the base in Seoul has had numbers of "improvement", such as a big over pass connecting the 2 bases have been made. These improvements were made years after the agreement to move. The base in Seoul even added streetlights, people drive 15mph on the base. So the street lights aren't really necessary, just need stop signs and it's only two lanes around the whole base. The number of children attending the schools on the Seoul base has increased more and more. The base commander even said he wanted to increase the numbers of Military families, instead of troops who are single.

Anyways just my 2cents.

Oh and btw I saw something about the DMZ. The DMZ on the South Korean side is now based with South Korea, and UN forces. The US Military handed over the DMZ to the UN, although there are still some American troops there, and the UN commander is also American.

Very few US troops there. Just some JSA (Joint Security Area) soldiers in the truce village, Panmunjom.

The rest are mostly gone, the small posts north of Seoul mostly closed/given back to ROK army.

NK has been aiming their missles and such at SK for 50 years, I agree.they will eventually kill eachother if someone doesn't step in with a little balls. It doesn't help that Kim Jong Il is a delusional man with plans for what I believe to be world domination like a asian Napoleon.

um when exactly did the 28,00 US soldiers in South Korea come home?

He said the DMZ. Very few soldiers there. Most are at Yongsan in Seoul and further points south.

2nd Infantry Division is stationed in WA state, mostly these days.

Very few combat forces there.

The small camps north of Seoul, which contained "nd ID infantry forces are largely gone.

this has actually been in the books for a few years now. i am not saying that the pentagon wouldnt move with other motives but this is due to deteriorating relations with marines and oki citizens. unfortunately i have watched this over the years. as the newer generations of soldiers/ marines come into asia or wherever, you get more of a feeling of US superiority from those personnel. as americans we tend to believe the entire world bows to us and just expects us to be there. but the truth is that they are really tolerating us and that patience is running low.

i remember going to asia and seeing soldiers mad that civy logistic workers didnt speak english very well. like they are supposed to honor us by learning a new language in their country so we can come there and act like drunken idiots and chase their sisters and wives around. it just got worse as years went on. a lot like the entitlement mentality got worse here at home also. we will probably see this happen more often in the near future. most civillians around foreign military bases love us because we pump up their economy but hate us because they get to know us best. as soon as morals outgrow greed then we are in trouble.

end of story, we all know it's best to get the fuck out of dodge......

most foriegn ministry did out of tokyo, and we've not heard a peep since... funny that...
