There must be some explanation for people suddenly becoming crazed cannibals. Would you just walk out your door tomorrow and eat someone's face off? What POSSIBLE reason would anyone have for doing this?

So, the facts. Drug-induced, sounds reasonable.
Who can make such a drug? Who has the labs and money?
Who has a motive for a weapon such as this?
Who has a past history of developing substances in labs?
Who would benefit from a big distraction such as this?
Is there anyone on Earth who could get away with such an operation in the US? Any terroriat group this confident?

Do you think we have any trouble believing that certain people in our own country are so filled with desperate, all-encompassing greed for money and control that they would do anything to get it?

Remember the 70's recession and vietnam war, when the hippies were questioning authority: massive amounts of marijuana are dumped into US.

The 80's recession and cold war = cocaine. Lots and lots of cocaine.

There was a case of a guy hopped up on PCP who ripped off all his clothes and killed and ate his girlfriend. There are in fact lots of horror stories of people going nuts on PCP and committing cannibalism, breaking their limbs (something about pain receptors being nulled) and other wild shit. After the headlines of the past few days, I have to say that I believe you, OP.

How do you prepare for something like this, short of barricading yourself in place or getting completely away from civilization? I guess a pertinent question would be how quick does the onset seem to be and how long does it last? In other words, how long might it take to 'ride it out'?

Do you think it is contagious, or simply delivered via the drugs? You sort of sounded like no one is really sure yet, if I read that correctly. Can you add anything... your own opinion or speculation?

There have been many cases of humans with 'mad cows disease' they died after becoming senile. They did not become crazed, nude, flesh eaters.

I don't believe drugs are a reasonable explanation for this. Most people have very little experience with drugs so they think it is plausible. However most people would balk at the idea that a few glasses of wine would make someone become a serial killer. Certainly people who do these things may have also taken various drugs, but the drugs were not the cause of them. The perceived plausibility of drugs causing these behaviors is based only on the ubiquitous ignorance of the average citizen in regards to the experience and pharmacological effects of these drugs. Suggesting that LSD could cause an otherwise normal person to become a flesh-eating wild animal is as ludicrous as suggesting that too many cups of coffee could cause someone to become a serial killer. If you don't understand something such as the pharmacological action of a particular drug or the subjective experience of them then it's just a dark scary thing especially when you have the media and police and various organizations putting out propaganda that suggests such things are possible. Also the idea that "drugs" can be lumped into one big dark scary threat is completely ridiculous. Every drug has its own unique pharmacological, psychological and somatic effects. There is just no such things as "drugs" in the euphemistic sense that is so commonly and ignorantly passed around. Drugs at most can only be a small factor of these incidents, not the cause. Not anything that people use for recreational purposes. However, the possibility that psychosis-inducing drugs created as weapons is perhaps a possibility. We have some evidence that research groups have sought all manner of ways to turn regular men into supersoldiers. If you want to see how violent LSD makes people, try looking up the video of British troops fed LSD in hopes of making them better soldiers. It turned a whole squad into a group of instant hippies. PCP, meth and crack can be a contributing factor to violent behavior, but not for turning a guy with a girlfriend who works at a steady job into an flesh eating monster instantly. Of course 40+ years of complete ignorance, lies and propaganda regarding the mythical evil "DRUGS" will not be changed by my post, but knowledge will set you free. What concerns me here isn't an American buying into paranoid crap, but that your statement implies that you implicitly trust anything your government tells you. That caused some serious issues for Germany during WWII, and has done so for other countries throughout history. But let that go for now.

I looked back into a few of your recent posts, especially the technical ones about close combat shooting and I do not doubt that you are SWAT trained. Besides that, "Taxi Driver" was one of the few Hollywood films that depicted the effects of different calibres of bullet in a realistic fashion.

Till now, the reports of a mind controlling drug that allows kidnappers to get victims to empty their asset accounts with no recollection have been limited to Colombia.
Colombia is also the source of most of the cocaine that comes through Florida. It is not a stretch to think that criminals would want to bring that drug in with the cocaine as well.

On another point, a poster commented that snorting drugs can sometimes allow substances that they are cut with to pass the blood brain barrier. Ravers and MDMA users take note.. mix your powders into a drink, don't snort them.
