To be honest, as of late I have been a bit worried about earthquakes. I can say that in the Seattle area it has been a while since I felt an earthquake in my area. I have kept an eye out and notice that we have small tremors (no more than 2.5 usually) and cannot help but worry that we are building up to a bad one.

I am most scared for the Western Washington area because we are in a horrible position. We have the threat from the coast but we also have the threat from the Cascade Mountains as well as the Olympic Mountains.

About Mt. Rainier eruption dated 1962 [link to www.jstor.org]

According to this article, [link to www.columbian.com] "the state has five volcanic cones that are considered active: Mount St. Helens, Mount Adams, Mount Rainier, Mount Baker and Glacier Peak"

I think they are taking it serious. Seattle did an estimation of damage from a Mt. Rainier lahar (mud-flow). [link to blogs.seattletimes.com] There are new tools to predict eruptions. [link to www.theolympian.com]

I visited Mt. St. Helens a few years back and I remember seeing it smoking and its insides (whatever they are called) were building up again. Not very comforting at all.

The thing is so far it seems they are aware of possible imminent danger and are researching how devastating it is but so far I do not really see anything about an evacuation plan for the Puyallup Valley. So are they really interested in helping them or are they are trying to figure out how expensive the devastation will be and if anything how much taxes, revenue they will lose... (I really hope it is not as horrible as that but it would not surprise me)

Then also Washington state has a different issue in regards to the Olympic Mountains. I was taught in my geology class that whole area is where the trench should have been located. However plate movements meant that instead of the ocean plate going downward each plate started filling the trench and forming upwards. It is that reason why the Himalayas are so high because the plates are pushing each other upward.

[link to en.wikipedia.org] They are made up of an obducted clastic wedge material and oceanic crust. They are primarily Eocene sandstones, turbidites, and basaltic oceanic crust. Thankfully not volcanic. It is a small relief.

Now from a geologist stand point, if say a massive earthquake happens what does mean for that whole piece of land as well as Western Washington?

You know it almost feels as if the only way the common folk like myself are going to survive is by not relying on the "goodness" of my government but finding provisions for myself and my community. I cannot help but think that will have to be the case.

Here is a site about the recent earthquakes in Western Washington. [link to www.pnsn.org]

It would be great for someone to take a look into it and see if there is a pattern or whatnot.

There is something that is troubling me. In the past before the upgrades to the earthquake history site I was allowed to look at various points of time...

Now it is under construction. My gut feeling is that they are trying to hide the ability to find patterns...

Managed to find the "old" site. Hopefully the information is still stored.

[link to old.pnsn.org]

(I found it by sheer happenstance and also the new site has been up for a while. It seems odd that it is taking this long for some of the parts of the site to still be under construction)

My goodness, I hope and pray that evreyone on the West Coast has plans to be away from the coast line in December. WE can always replace material things, but the loss of life is unthinkable, especially if forewarned.
Be safe, and pray this doesn't happen.

I stand corrected, but what ever name it is called , that day was horrible on a scale unimaginable.

I fear we will see this kind of thing again.
The article at [link to laron-transients.blogspot.com]
is a Must read article about possible destruction of West Coast of America by a possible tsunami that will travel about 1 ½ mile inland and inundated everything with an approximately 90 feet tall wall of water.

What you see is not really Venus, Venus is in earth orbit so it is the opposite side to us behind the sun. This is something else and a big system lie!!!
