I do believe that what you're seeing is "time" stretched of the single bow echo that moved through taken with multiple shots...each bow is the single storm, the progression with overlay is the image.

You can see though how the echo stretches and advances quickly, this is why we were seeing massive winds 10's of miles ahead of the main stormfront, the last time I recall winds like this was when IKE moved up through the Ohio valley a few years back.

Southeast, Indiana here! Before the storm I heard what seemed to be sonic boom sounds. Nothing like the sound of fireworks or thunder going off. Even after the storm passed and was away, around 11PM it was still going on and I noticed off in the distance was quick flashes of white light after the noise. Power was out from 5PM until about 9-10PM so I had no clue what was all going on. It just seemed strange to me!!

Southeast Indiana too! I heard what you are talking about. Can't say for certain that it wasn't testing of fireworks in my town, or at least that was what I thought when I heard it. I didn't see the flashes, but my son did and that was not in the direction that the testing would have been done.

Everyone should work construction at least once in their life. In my 20`s I can recall framing houses over concrete slabs in 100+ South Carolina heat. No one died.

I'm just north of Richmond, VA.

Yesterday I read on GLP that these wildfires are being started by lightning strikes, and then we look out our bedroom window last night to what looked like the closing minutes of a 4th of July fireworks show. I have never in my life witnessed the intensity and frequency of lightning like I did last night. It was absolutely breathtaking, and scary.

I thought for sure we'd lose power (we luckily didn't) and we'd wake up to firetrucks putting out fires in the neighboring forests. So far, no sirens.

Could it just be grid overload in those areas from the heat?

Are people still praying to the Flying Spaghetti Monster? Or is the garlic bread burning?
