Quoting: Strongman Shelford "There is a bill prepared in the National Security and Foreign Policy committee of Parliament that stresses the blocking of oil tanker traffic carrying oil to countries that have sanctioned Iran," Iranian MP Ibrahim Agha-Mohammadi told reporters. "This bill has been developed as an answer to the European Union's oil sanctions against the Islamic Republic of Iran." more: [link to www.rt.com] Hormuz Closure May Send Brent Oil to $200 a Barrel, SocGen Says Dec 2011 [link to www.businessweek.com] Thread: Iran Closing Hormuz, Simulating Attack on US Bases & Israel, & Prepping to Down US Passenger Planes! Anonymous Coward User ID: 16746121 Australia 07/02/2012 10:16 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | As much as it pains me to say this, Iran does hold the best cards in this scenario. The West has lost Egypt and Pakistan as reliable deterrents against Iranian escalation, and with the Armenia-Azerbaijan powderkeg sitting on Iran's border inviting a Russia VS Turkey dimension, the West cannot simply just bomb or invade Iran. Not without going down in the history books as the aggressor who started WW3 anyway.. The Saudi Kingdom is fragile, and oil stocks and prices are volatile. There is no security or reassurance in this for big oil companies. High prices mean nothing if tomorrow 100% of reserves go up in the flames of a regional war. You could argue that it's one big game of chicken, but in the truck is Ahmadinejad and in the buggy is the West. The only way out of a catastrophe for the West, sadly, is to lift the sanctions on Iran and get back to fixing up shop at home, because the economy sure as heck isn't getting any better back there! |

Israel & Iran will go to war and the US & Russia will determine the fallout. The again, the Turkey / Greece / Israel issue make me wonder how tight the NATO Pact is when alot of the players are not in NATO. Australia, Egypt, Israel, Japan, Jordan, New Zealand, and South Korea are major non-NATO allies. Example; *Japan / South Korea pact = Failed. |

There needs to be a good dustin' 'n a-cleanin', and if it takes a war in the M.E. then so be it because too many of the 'little people' have been bilked dry far too long. Time for the polarized society of 'sustainability' freaks to get flipped on their axis. Anonymous Coward User ID: 14765545 United States 07/03/2012 01:35 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The Iranians will announce a pending limited closure of the strait in line with the opportunity for the Europeans and Americans to reverse their sanctions on the Islamic republic. This will be sometime in mid-September. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 16303335 The Iranian President will deliver a speech at the UN chronologically outlining the events that led to the current crisis. This will fall on deaf ears in Washington and most of Europe (and Israel). The Russians and Chinese will mediate but not budge. They, in concert with Iran, will blame the West for the escalation of tensions. Between October 19-23 the strait will be closed following a diplomatic deadlock. Western warships will give a 24 hour ultimatum to the Iranians to re-open the strait. Russia will up the ante by sending warships into the Persian Gulf outside regular drills for the first time. Vladimir Putin will warn that the only way out of the confrontation is for the West to drop the sanctions (which will bring Iran to re-open the strait). Reluctantly, the West will do this. The same retreat in hostilities, however, will not be followed by Israel. They will see this as a PR triumph for Iran and may take unilateral action against Iran shortly afterwards (unless Russia decides to send the sophisticated anti-aircraft missiles it had previously denied to Iran). It's a tricky situation with so many variables. There isn't enough room on this entire site to list them all. very good post Agree!!! Start a new thread with this!!! |
