I agree and disagree.

If you just look something up, your brain isn't going to remember whatever it is you looked up unless you were either really interested in the question you were asking, or unless you do some further research.

If your a dumb fuck, you dont care about memorizing shit. I google stuff all the time. I go there to learn stuff i didnt know before.. I dont forget what i read. This must pertain to fluoride drinking, dumb, ignorant, and trashy people who cant read to begin with.

Google is doing to memory what executives do to businesses. We aren't getting dumber, and we aren't getting smarter. We are simply processing data in a more streamlined way. You look something up, you get the critical information on the subject, and that's what you go off of. The details that you could specialize on the topic with you simply toss out.

It's giving people more total topics of knowledge, but less in depth knowledge of that information. It's also stimulating people to fill in those gaps when the topic comes up and you have to refer back in your memory.

Not a bad way of doing it, just different. Remove the waste information, retain the good stuff. Just like business, who cares how you did it, why you did, or how long it may or may not take you to do, as long as it gets done. The results driven brain.

Its not going to change people

We've had libraries with books for decades that were mostly stood empty, except for a few people that wanted to learn on their own. I know cause I was one who frequented libraries. Just the smell of books are coming to me in my memory. I could spend the whole day there, Id check out ten books at a time.

Modern information age tech is just the same shit we always did, it's just better and faster.

Each of us comes into the world with NOTHING, and we use whatever resources we have to gain information as we go.

We used to have "the elders" and the oral tradition, which was not very good, and then we gained the ability to write, but then we had to comb through volumes physically to get at the information.

Then we had the telephone, and we could call an expert to get the information.

Now we have Google, and it takes all the same processes and makes them all easier.

I don't think it makes us dumber, because we were already dumb...it just takes our ways to access information to a whole new level.

Thank God for it too, we have the information available to us now that not too long in the past would have been inconceivable for people, it's really amazing when you stop to think about it.

Ive heard tons of stories of kids that cannot stand being taught how to fish, how to build a shed, how to check an engine or how to take ski lift and learn how to snowboard cause it all takes patience and time and kids dont have those abilities any more. They just prefer pictures and video games to the actual doing.

i suppose it could be possible that by storing fewer memories one would have more capacity to think/rationalize/be creative.

the danger is when we are all reliant on data stored in the cloud, the owners of that cloud can remove information on a whim. they could change it too. history could be censored and rewritten and you'd have no way of proving it.

i would choose an eidetic memory any day over a neural-google link.

i love libraries. always have. i will miss them when they are gone.

i think google make people more ressourced than before

An X1.4 class flare erupted from the center of the sun, peaking on July 12, 2012 at 12:52 PM EDT. It erupted from Active Region 1520 which rotated into view on July 6.

This video uses SDO AIA footage in 131(teal), 171(gold) and 335 (blue) angstrom wavelengths. Each wavelength shows different temperature plasma in the sun's atmosphere. 171 shows 600,000 Kelvin plasma, 335 shows 2.5 million Kelvin plasma, and 131 shows 10 million Kelvin plasma.

The final shot is a composite of 171 and 335 angstrom footage.
