On a related note to the OP post... I got caught up in a riot for food once - Philippines.

There was a limited amount of meat -- Chickens -- Beef -- Pork. The store had held back selling it for days -- to build up to Christmas Eve. THEN, they let their families in first. It was part of a large mall... all mall employees families were let in one hour before opening.

They had also pulled all the food stuff related to the holiday meal off the shelves for several days.. all went back on the shelves and it was a free for all.

We were able to get in a bit ahead of the crowd -- probably because I was American and had been standing there for over an hour anyway.

So we were able to get one of the few carts... and get back to the meat counter and get a few chickens and other things..

Then the crowd was let in -- and a total riot ensued. Fights broke out in several areas... One old lady grabbed the plastic bag with the two chickens -- tried to take it right out of my hands. I am 6'5" 250 pounds... she lost that fight but just the fact she would try tells you how desperate things were.

Anyway... I have seen people at their worst... and it scares the hell out of me.

I can only imagine what a Wal-Mart will look like... when a real panic hits.

That's a good post! But I have to say that I've experienced that here in the good old US of A. It's called Black Friday in suburbia. People snatching items right out of your hands, grabbing stuff out of the cart when they think you can't see, etc. And this is not even a 3rd world country (yet).

Probably the reason I don't do black friday anymore, and why I tend to shop at very odd hours like 20 min before stores close. I don't like the human crunch and mob mentality. It's creepy!

This is my experience yesterday

It's not Wal Fart, its Wal Shart, b/c I'd like to imply more shit in the meme, or facade, or whatever the fuck hell.

The only reason we went there is b/c we work the shit off all week, and that was the only place that would do an oil change on a Saturday. SO fuck you if you wonder why we were there, it was a ONCE in a YEAR experience...

SO, first off, dropped off the car, they said would be more than hour, fine, let's go to McD and feed us and the kids b/c we hadn't eaten and needed whatever sustenance we could muster, so, we figured, got an hour to kill (more like 2), let's just go eat in the fly infested Mcd. yay, but had no choice b/c kids were fussy, and time to kill....

sitting there in the McDonalds and lightening hits the fucking emergency DOOR 5 feet away from us!!! My god, it sounded like a JDAM, all the alarms went off in the store, it shook everything, and shockwaved us all. all the ghetto folk, all the redneckers, and all just whoever looked at each other. it was like something out of a fucking twilight zone, where, me and my wife, and kids, were the only ones aware.. everyone else was in, just this weird state!! SHIT, like, goldfish in a tank!!! meanwile, we are plotting our route!!!..

man, this gave me such a new awareness!!!

my god, if there ever were an attack on a place like this, mall, movie theater, who knows??, we learned many things. It shook us to our core, maybe b/c we were about 10 feet away from it. but, all the dregs,, just,,, shit... didn't register!!!

Not to shock you, but I believe this was a message, not to feed your family GMO laden foods, to your kids especially. What were you thinking?! Just because it's convenient doesn't meant it's food. Juice some organic produce fresh from the produce isle or best if it's heirloom garden at your home, but I'll get into that later.

Feed your kids better and you wouldn't be so worried about stuff, and would do your own oil change cause you'd have time, energy, and smarts to do it, not poisoning your family all the damn time.

God sent you a message.

that's funny cause I actually had a girlfriend return home to about 1300 miles away, she refused to help out on her own terms, so I insisted she help out, yup she had her things packed and she was gone, while i was at work, gayest shit ever, cause I was sick of pulling doubles at work while she would smoke nearly all of our pot and not even clean or anything... shit on my days off I would have that place clean and then smoke a little and have a big giant nice bowl waiting just for her to smoke when she'd get home from her 1 part-time, she'd look at magazines talking about how I look at other women and such, making herself more insecure, about ready to pull her own damn hair out cause she's not 'perfect' or whatever women think their men think about them

wow, didn't expect this to be pinned!

No, it was very weird, everyone had the 1000 yard stare, it was like they were given external, survival inducing stimuli, but, no one got the picture. very scary!

believe me, when lightening hit the door, it sounds like a bomb going off.

I just couldn't believe it, people are just in a trance anymore.

And yes, we did take it as both a sign, and a lesson. We don't go to those places, and the one time we do, we are shown something.

All those saying do the oil change myself, well, If I had the time I would, but we watch the kids full time, and work full time, so figured it would just be easier. I usually do, figured it would cost about the same, but, I just can't go to these places.

It was just really weird, we were the only ones thinking. I'm glad everyone didn't freak out, but also a little worried for folks too b/c, either they are just way more chill and aware, or, just,,, walking around in a trance... I'm thinking it was the latter.... It was in a city Wal-Mart. sorry for being expletive laden, but, It was just so WEIRD!!!

we took it as a sign and lesson, both just looked at each other like "never again"!!

also it shouldnt take an hour to do a simple oil change unless they were balls to the wall busy.

im a mechanic and will get an oil change to do once in a while and it only takes about 10 mins... it would take even less time than that but we are required to check air pressure in all 4 tires as well as the brakes as a courtesy service.

Exactly. Not to mention that you only ever really heard about Al Qaida after the Bush administration, after the convenient creation of the modern day "terrorist". Don't forget where Bin Laden got all his training and resources (CIA, among others). The outcast of the Saudi family who are close friends with the Bushes, etc, etc, etc.

By the way, they used to all be "Iranian terrorists" or Russians in the 80's in the news and on tv shows and in movies - remember that? Where are they now? Somehow magically dis-ta-pearred! Replaced by your "modern day villains". Time to turn off the TV, bro.

They cant Add numbers anymore, cant cook from scratch, fix things that break etc. Look around more and see what people dont know how to do. Compile a list and post it. It would be quit entertaining and sad at the same time.

Wow, you are ridiculously annoyed with Walmart!

Sir, first of all it is just a store, at least it is American started and owned. Target on the other hand is FRENCH! Can you say Targ'e?

Walmart is a store chain that employs millions of Americans and supplies millions of others with great deals. Just saying you were a little defensive. You could have simply said you were in a Mc'D's and not gone on a rampage, and also made your story much shorter.

You sound like my sister who claims to hate Walmart, but we see her lazy ass there almost every time we go. With her Obama Buck's card in hand. Buying take and bake pizza and name brand soda!

wtf
 Quoting: Rightmama 21735168

Target is NOT owned by the French. People say Targ'e to be funny. You need to get your facts straight. Its owned by Marshall Fields out of Chicago. Its a nice store. So refreshing next to Wal Mart, which is soul killing. I HATE Wal mart and all it stands for.

I would prefer that people kept their cool instead of assuming something terrible is happening. That stare probably indicates they were listening for further reason to freak out, and when nothing else was provided, they realized it was just lightening.

Better scenario is if people all pulled out their concealed weapons and started flipping over tables? Or trampling each other trying to get out? Or getting out into a storm where lightening has just struck in an orderly fashion?

I don't get your point at all other than you feeling as if you are smarter than everyone else.

Seriously... you'd rather go to walmart to change oil, rather then a legit shop or do it yourself. Im female and can change oil in 5 minutes. There is no real reason to support walmart.
Shitty meat, shitty food in general, bad clothes.... low quality goods. If your too tired to do it yourself, rather then wait two hours.... *sigh*

Re: crazy experience at a Wal Shart, gives me insight into what could be to come!!!!
also it shouldnt take an hour to do a simple oil change unless they were balls to the wall busy.

im a mechanic and will get an oil change to do once in a while and it only takes about 10 mins... it would take even less time than that but we are required to check air pressure in all 4 tires as well as the brakes as a courtesy service.

Which I appreciate, EJ. Thank you for making sure the tires are aired up properly. That is a very kind service to offer.
