Syria has been fighting insurgency for months, and have been unable to stop it, even less to eliminate it.
Turkey on the other hand has a huge,professional, well equipped, disciplined army and is fresh and very pissed at the Syrians.






Turkey doesn´t really need NATO assistance to go for Syria. If Russia decide to intervene, then is another story. But in that case it truly would be WWIII and not a regional conflict anymore.

Fighting insurgency and rebel movements is a very different matter than fighting regular armies, PKK being a good example of this for Turkey. Turkey has deffo a better army than Syria, but Syrian army is good in numbers also and certainly not pushovers.
