He has not matured beyond 11-12. His emotional development was probably stunted when his mother shipped him back to HI for the grands to raise. That has to be absolutely devastating to any child.

He’d already been abandoned by his father; then his mother. He had to develop coping mechanisms just to survive. And, it appears, he could never develop properly after that.
