Can't watch and won't watch, but these barbarian acts are allowed in Europe. Especially in France and England, most animals are murdered this way because the jews and muslims insist on this 'method'. Freedom of religion. This should not be covered by freedom of religion because nobody forces them to eat meat at all. It is sickening how society and politicians allow this to happen.

I am not saying it does not happen, but it is far from being the norm. What is shown in this video with the down dairy cattle is disgusting. Most producers I know would never participate any anything like that and cattle in that condition would be euthanized on farm........... and more importantly, would never have been allowed to get in that condition in the first place.

I do agree however that the immense factory farms or intensive livestock operations are a problem............... we need to go back to smaller family run farms where the owners have empathy for their animals and try to give them a good life while they are with us. Where they get to live more like god intended, instead of how some dick pencil pushers decided will maximize profit and to whom a cow or a pig is just an 'item'.

What's the problem here? People are so out of touch with the meat that they eat.

I see respect of the animal in varying degrees on both videos. With the exception of the one camel they all bled out and died rather quickly.

A few points. One, an early bible story concerning young Jesus is that of his parents on their way to the Synagogue with a pair of doves - their sacrificial gift. They were poor, that was all they could afford.

Two, no mention is made on any of these threads about the exposed cruelty via undercover cams at slaughterhouses in US which came out a few years ago. Quite of few of my friends became vegetarian as a result. It is a well known FACT that many people who work in these places are sadists; certainly the images we saw of downed cows being rammed repeatedly by forklifts and other horrible things which were done bear evidence to this fact.

If you want to learn a kinder way to raise animals, and better way to live in general, subscribe to Mother Earth News magazine. I raise chickens for eggs, they free range part of the day and I sell the extras at my shop. I just got three dairy goats which I hand raised -- next year, I'll have milk (and butter, yogurt cheese) and I'll share that, too. Even a very small backyard can support 3 hens, and that's all you need to supply a family of 4 with eggs - all the protein you need. In fact, eggs have EVERYTHING except vitamin C. Very smart very sweet; my entire flock of 25 birds all have names.

You can keep animals sanely and enjoy their gifts - without slaughtering them cruelly. Note I didn't say you had to give up meat -- we need to eat less of it, much less. Plenty of organic farmers who are NOT inhumane out there. The factory farms will continue to exist as long as we require cheap meat. There was a time every brownstone had a garden and a few chickens in the back -- a healthier life. Quality experiences for the children. Time to look backward and rediscover a better way to live. Yes, it's harder in some respects - I'm up very early in the morning and winter feeding/watering takes effort. But I'd rather haul warm water buckets than spend time and money in a gym.
