Assad wont step down... Russia is saying this because they feel some type of intervention is close, IMO.

I'm sure if Assad feels like he has nothing to lose, he will drag Israel into a war with Hezbollah soon.

An hour or so ago I listened to a 'talk back' kind of show on Russia Today which was exclusively dedicated to how the West could support "democratic" rebels in a transition from Assads rule. Odd.

Hm, Putin seems to like dealing with Obama (who will have more flexibility after the election) better than Romney. So is Russia giving up their port in Syria to help Obama in the upcoming foreign policy debate against Romney?
