This is sooo ten years ago. Try again, most people have woken up and realize that Cheney was the one trying to plant dirty bombs in the US in order to justify martial law. You'll have to do better than that.

OP is correct. But it potentially gets worse. I cannot divulge how I know this but it is government intel.

if even 1 nuclear bomb is detonated in the US it means the collapse of modern life. The US economy will grind to a halt. World Trade will collapse. Even worse, the Americans will insist on payback and that means an eye for an eye. A nuclear detonation in Iran. Nothing less would be acceptable.

There is a good possibility that both Russia and China could seize this opportunity to launch strikes of their own. Why? Because it already spells the beginning of the end. China needs Irans oil and natural gas. Russia has signed defense agreements with Iran. They both intend to rebuild a new world from the ashes of the old.

of course if they launch attacks from subs we will launch attacks of our own. It becomes a survivability issue. Who survives? nobody wants this except for one party. Who actually wants this you ask? I do not see how anyone can tell the OP that what he describes is not possible, of course it is.
