Yes, some Christians claim it to be a gold or silver idol. They believe more focus is on the fact that one is fussing over gold, silver, diamonds, Gucci, Tiffany, etc. Therefore, one is truly focused on the idol and showing off the idol, rather than focusing on Christ.
