This is not looking good. Has there been a worst case scenario done by these folks at Texas Brine?
 Quoting: El Quisqueyano

I don't know, El Q, but I will try to find out. There is so little credible info coming out down here. The local news on WAFB will do a 20 or 30 second spot about it a couple of times a week.
 Quoting: Earth Cries

I was mentioning this to people I know in Colorado and California, and they didn't know ANYTHING about the sinkhole, said they've heard nothing about it.
 Quoting: itsamadmadworld

There is a virtual news black out on the MSM.

I'm getting my info here, nothing on MSM, nothing

I would suggest that those who haven't google Matt Simmons and watch some of his videos from the BP spill. He was a whistle blower at the time and met a very "strange" hot tub "heart attack" death.
This sinkhole mess is tied in to the debacle in the GOM. That is a very delicate ecosystem and BP screwed it up. The seabed is fractured and oil is still leaking out in various places.
 Quoting: Earth Cries

Absolutely and many are ignoring it . . . the fault line compromise began the domino effect.

I saw a vid where the guy's theory is that the BP explosion was from beams "above" - it showed a part of the platform for the heliport and it appears to be melted - a hole - and no apparent fire damage near it.

you need about 20-30 god fearing folks who are for real with the lord jesus christ, and they need to have a pure heart and mind and they need to ask his help. and it will be done.jesus is REAL AS REAL CAN GET FOLKS PLEASE BELEIVE THIS FACT OF FACTS. PRAISE JESUS!!!!!!!!

Is 20-30 really enough? I think the hole is just too big, we need more than that to plug it.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 13914072

At first glance, I thought they were talking about sacrificing 20-30 virgins into the pit. My bad. Need to read more carefully.

But seriously, nobody likes someone beating folks over the head with religion.

Nothing wrong with loving your Higher Power, but don't push others to have your same beliefs.

Besides, all it takes is ONE with real faith IMO.

The news black out is intentional. They don't know what's happening and they are afraid people would panic if there is a worse case scenario.

I liked this part from the August article.

" said officials are not concerned that the sinkhole would expand and swallow up the Crosstex cavern, but that the sinkhole could expand and shift the cap of sediment and rock that sits atop Napoleonville Dome.

Such a shift, though it would have to occur across 1,600 feet of caprock, could damage the casing of the well bore leading to the underground cavern, possibly releasing the butane, Boudreaux explained.

“It’s not impossible. No one can say that it can’t happen. The scientists are aware of that, but it’s very unlikely that it would happen,” Boudreaux said. "

Now that would be scary.
I wonder which direction the missing 2.5 billion yards of material points.........

Hey OP?

Did they flare the butane off?

They removed it, so they say. But at this point, who the heck knows what they're doing. It wasn't flared. They wouldn't flare that much and loose that much money.

Okay...

I am from Louisiana. I have since moved, but I still live on the Gulf Coast...well within the 500 mile radius of potential 'doom.' I have been 'lurking' on ALL of the threads pertaining to this catastrophe, because I have extended family in the area, who I am watching out for, as well as myself and my immediate family (who could be in danger should the unthinkable occur). I will admit that I did post a reply to the 'bunker' explosion, where I said that it was a munitions bunker explosion, citing the local news source.
I am rethinking that position!

Anyway...

If anyone is interested in the geological make-up of this part of La. I have some info that is quite interesting. There are fault lines ALL across southern Louisiana. There is also subsidence to factor in. The subsidence is minimal, however, it IS much more than they had previously thought. This was covered in one of the threads, with a link to how New Orleans is sinking faster than scientists and geologists previously thought.

If anyone wants to read this, it is well worth the time. This is FULL of invaluable information on how salt domes are formed, on how the faults run in the state, on the different geological factors at play that could have an impact on this, as well as sinkhole collapse.

I would love to discuss this with people who want to take the time to read this.

This is good information thank you. I was looking for this. I have only glanced at it, but will study tomorrow.

My question is:

Are you concerned that the aquifer that supplies this area, as well as other states, may explode due to changes in water level or pressure due to the drought this past summer?
Also is there any truth to the rumor that oil may have been stored beneath the aquifer?

Thank you.
 Quoting: allisaTX

I am looking forward to seeing what you think of the file.
I found it very interesting and extremely informative on the geological make-up of Louisiana.

I think that since there are statements, on record, of concern of the silt/mud layer not having enough strength to hold back the pressure of the underlying gas, then we do need to be concerned.
I will personally look into this, as it is of high importance.
As far as oil having been stored under the aquifer, I will need to do more research. I would not be surprised, though. Very little surprises me anymore, sad to say.

I will have more to post, tomorrow. I need to do more research, now.

Thanks!

The Strategic Oil Reserves are stored in salt domes along the Gulf Coast.

Read about it here:
[link to en.wikipedia.org]

Weeks Island - Iberia Parish, Louisiana (Decommissioned 1999) Capacity of 72 million barrels (11,400,000 m3). This facility was a conventional room and pillar near-surface salt mine, formerly owned by Morton Salt. In 1993, a sinkhole formed on the site, allowing fresh water to intrude into the mine. Because of the mine's construction in salt deposits, fresh water would erode the ceiling, potentially causing the structure to fail. The mine was backfilled with salt-saturated brine. This process, which allowed for recovery of 98% of the petroleum stored in the facility, reduced the risk of further freshwater intrusion, and helped prevent the remaining oil from leaking into the aquifer that is located over the salt dome.

So yes, it could leak into the aquifer and it has. Test have shown that there is methane in the aquifer.

The petro industry has ruined the GOM and Louisiana. It would take probably hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of years for it to cleanse itself.

 Quoting: Earth Cries

Hi, yes, I am well aware of the use of salt domes for strategic oil reserves. I am also aware that the aquifer has tested positive for methane. That is very concerning, to say the least.
The question that was asked was whether or not I had any opinion on the rumor that oil was stored "under" the aquifer. I know where the Miss. All. Aquifer is, I just do not know if it is feasible that oil has been stored under it. I do not know how deep they would have to have drilled to go under the aquifer. I have to assume that the salt dome does extend underneath the aquifer, but I need to look at some maps and try to find some evidence of drilling to the depths needed, for the deposit of oil. I do not want to say I think that it has or that it could be done, without proper research to back up my statement. :)

On a side note, I have to say that I think that the use of of salt domes for storage of this stuff is absolutely ludicrous! The report I gave a link to, states that the area where the salt domes are being used for this purpose are very unstable.
Most people do not equate Louisiana with earthquakes, but there ARE fault lines ALL through the state.

Anyway, lets keep on this. There is a great deal of good information out there!

Thank you everyone for your efforts!

I live within the 500 mile radius of the sinkhole and about 20 miles north of the beach on the Gulf Coast. I am watching everything very closely and doing my own research, as well. I think there is a lot going on here, way too much for anyone to prognosticate on how 'quick' the 'doom' will be. My advice is to stay on top of things and listen to your gut. If you feel unsafe, then LEAVE! I would be very concerned living that close to this thing.

I will not fearmonger, but I do advise you to be alert.

I am busy compiling my 'case' to present to my loved ones, in La. so that when the time comes, I can lay it all out, in a clear and concise manner.

I am praying for you and everyone over there and for all of us who could be in harm's way...

EC keep digging hon, this is a mess and will be put to a spin soon, but its garnered enough attention now they can't hide events they can't control. Much love and peace to all who are searching for the truth, you are all needed.

Amazing in the fact that this should be on every news channel as a daily segment, for those that believe all is well and good, look how they hide this event. I have such a hard time dealing with the ones that refuse to open their eyes.

If these pockets of variant makeup continue to expand wait until they hit the subduction zone under new madrid, won't be able to hide these events, but can still spin them!

“One of the saddest lessons of history is this: If we’ve been bamboozled long enough, we tend to reject any evidence of the bamboozle. We’re no longer interested in finding out the truth. The bamboozle has captured us. It’s simply too painful to acknowledge, even to ourselves, that we’ve been taken. Once you give a charlatan power over you, you almost never get it back.” – Carl Sagan

Is 20-30 really enough? I think the hole is just too big, we need more than that to plug it.

How unfortunate for some rulers when men, women, and children continue to think... Keep repeating the lies loud enough and long enough and just maybe the people will start to believe the lies again and good luck with that...finding your energy open until mars becomes raging aries...

Absolutely and many are ignoring it . . . the fault line compromise began the domino effect.

I saw a vid where the guy's theory is that the BP explosion was from beams "above" - it showed a part of the platform for the heliport and it appears to be melted - a hole - and no apparent fire damage near it.

Could Mother Nature handle this, as she hasbeen doing for thousands of years?- i dnno, but was up until the wee hours studying this, and i found that whole mess down there, already, just looks like one big slab of Swiss cheese, itis horrifyingly beautiful and breath-taking, and shouldhave been turned into a grandiose, mega, tourist attraction.- motels, little boats and all, not a residential area:

The petro industry has ruined the GOM and Louisiana. It would take probably hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of years for it to cleanse itself.

Don't laugh... regardless of the entity they believe in- Consciousness controls reality. Enough conscious people meditating and thinking about the same thing WILL get something done. Experiments HAVE been done on this.

Yes and that's a scary thought, Shad.
There wasn't a mention of the sinkhole on the WAFB news tonight even though that new report came out stating that more sinkholes could open up.
Thanks for your support, my friend.
