The cold front associated with the tipped trough to the west of the hurricane has never really been analysed before and if its strong enough to suck the entire hurricane into shore, it will be interesting to see what else will transpire. Cat 1 Winds to Great Lakes 162. Pcroton 08:06 PM GMT em 27 de Outubro de 2012 Tinton Falls, NJ 63F and dropping now. Occasional breeze kicking up a little more each hour. After several days of insane bird activity we have seen not a single one all day. It would seem the Jersey coastline is in for the most serious effects from this storm. Some models are really starting to push it now with the 5-10 foot tidal surge and 80-100kt coastal winds. We know it's big, we know it's strong, we know it's going to intensify, and we know it's coming. Not much else to do now but sit back and watch it come along. I would suspect we will be losing power given the duration and intensity of the system that is more than likely going to hit. I don't see any real reason to dispute the higher end forecasting. When we cross over 50mph sustained and over 65mph gusts we start to get some significant damage. That's really our limits right there. Whether or not we get the 75+ ranges will determine if we get the extreme damage that leads to several days without power or the ability to travel. Who can say? It's been a while since a true extreme event has come. Several have been forecasted and not lived up to the billing. There's something about this one that makes you want to say "They gotta be right some time." "Going to get the real big one eventually" cliches. It seems to be the one. Not much else to do but wait. Was married to an E-9, who was Command Master Chief of Norfolk Naval Station - trust me, we were NOT "elite"!! ThinkOutsideTheBox |
