These included home visits by canvassers to help residents who may have had difficulty filling in the form and have produced a greatly improved percentage return. The 17 were prosecuted in their absence at Brentford Magistrates Court on Friday and were fined £85 each, with a £15 victim surcharge and £50 costs. |

Do you have to vote for the candidates they select for you or do you have the option to write in a candidate? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1585076 That is the thing it is not they just want your details!!!! Every household in the borough should receive a Voters' Registration Form. When you receive this form by law you must respond to it as soon ... [link to www.google.co.uk] |

Do you have to vote for the candidates they select for you or do you have the option to write in a candidate? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1585076 Registration to enable you to vote is mandatory it seems. I had a similar episode myself recently OP. Personally not interested in voting in any MP ever again, they're a shambolic self-absorbed waste of space as is becoming more evident by the day, MP's expenses, and the frightening depth of the Savile scandal etc. I think to want to become an MP in the first place, the chances are you are an egomaniac of sorts anyway. So I've come to the conclusion there are no good MP's and it's all essentially 2 sides of the same coin anyway, with MP's all having their strings pulled by their puppetmasters. I ignored my forms, basically as 1. I wasn't aware they were now mandatory, and 2. I had and still have other things on my plate to be dealing with, but still kept getting bombarded by them, then they started looking a bit more serious with a £1000 fine warning, which I couldn't pay even if it went that far, so ended up sorting it online fairly quickly and easily as it goes. However, like you, I think its obnoxious that we're forced to do so, same with the census bullshit last year or whenever it was, and the company that handled the data for that - Lockheed Fucking Martin - WTF??! Seriously ?? I've come to loathe the country I was born in and what it has become over the last 40 years. Get me off this fucking planet lol! |

That is what I'm talking about man they use the electoral roll to check every detail of your life. You even have to opt out on the form so they are not allowed to sell your details in the freemarket. No mater what credit rating agencies, the police and every government department will have complete access with or without your consent. AND FILLING THE BLOODY FORM IS MANDATORY. Rather than frontal conflict I choose disobedience, much more my style. On a frontal fight the individual has no chance. Even when they finally charge with sumwhat they will demand my details so they can charge me. It is not own. A simple thing like that should tell everyone in which kind of world we live. |

The try to do that here with the census and it won't be long before they do it with voter registration. On the census, they will actually come to your door and threaten you with jail... until you mention the 4th amendment. Funny because the "Constitution" is no longer in effect :P |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1585076 No, there is no mandatory voting, there is however a mandatory form to fill out (1000 pound fine if you dont) so that they can then sell your details off to tele canvassers etc. It makes me fucking sick, although Mickey and Minnie Mouse live at my address. They tried pulling this shit with the census, that ended up in the bin and several visits from Lockheed Martin employees threatening me with court action, and they got told the same thing, fuck off none of your business |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 26797763 I probably should have but disobedience is the way. My whole point is trying to collaborate as little as possible with these bastards. I have a job and had not choice but to pay taxes and national insurance. I put money in their pocket every time I buy anything, so I try to buy as little as possible. I don't want anything from them, I'm not interested on what they sell on telly I would love to burn all the money I get but by the time I pay rent, council tax and take care of my loved ones there is fuck all left. No pension, no savings no rights. Fuck them. |

Thing is they made the information public on Dec 1st so if they have not got the information by then they have to wait till next year. Extra pressure on November it looks to me. Thing is by now I'm getting letters all the year round if not for last years, for the current one and failing that next years. They are relentless. |

After telling him sternly that I did not have time to deal with him, he insisted it was THE LAW and would not leave until I comply.
