It's more than that though... try getting mortgages or loans without being on the electoral role. Even if you manage to avoid it your credit rating dives as a result.

I had a similar episode myself recently OP. Personally not interested in voting in any MP ever again, they're a shambolic self-absorbed waste of space as is becoming more evident by the day, MP's expenses, and the frightening depth of the Savile scandal etc. I think to want to become an MP in the first place, the chances are you are an egomaniac of sorts anyway. So I've come to the conclusion there are no good MP's and it's all essentially 2 sides of the same coin anyway, with MP's all having their strings pulled by their puppetmasters.

I ignored my forms, basically as 1. I wasn't aware they were now mandatory, and 2. I had and still have other things on my plate to be dealing with, but still kept getting bombarded by them, then they started looking a bit more serious with a £1000 fine warning, which I couldn't pay even if it went that far, so ended up sorting it online fairly quickly and easily as it goes.

However, like you, I think its obnoxious that we're forced to do so, same with the census bullshit last year or whenever it was, and the company that handled the data for that - Lockheed Fucking Martin - WTF??!

That is what I'm talking about man they use the electoral roll to check every detail of your life. You even have to opt out on the form so they are not allowed to sell your details in the freemarket. No mater what credit rating agencies, the police and every government department will have complete access with or without your consent. AND FILLING THE BLOODY FORM IS MANDATORY.

No, there is no mandatory voting, there is however a mandatory form to fill out (1000 pound fine if you dont) so that they can then sell your details off to tele canvassers etc. It makes me fucking sick, although Mickey and Minnie Mouse live at my address.

I probably should have but disobedience is the way. My whole point is trying to collaborate as little as possible with these bastards. I have a job and had not choice but to pay taxes and national insurance. I put money in their pocket every time I buy anything, so I try to buy as little as possible. I don't want anything from them, I'm not interested on what they sell on telly I would love to burn all the money I get but by the time I pay rent, council tax and take care of my loved ones there is fuck all left. No pension, no savings no rights. Fuck them.

That is what I did with the census and planned to do the same with the voter registration form.
Thing is they made the information public on Dec 1st so if they have not got the information by then they have to wait till next year. Extra pressure on November it looks to me.

Phone the number OP... I did and option number 2 is to request to purchase the register. So they say we are obligated to provide private information for them to sell, also the information is on public display at most libraries.

Ask them what law, when they say it is an Act of Parliament, A Statue law or whatever, tell them to fuck off. They can only enforce these "Laws" with your consent.
