Quoting: Anonymous Coward 19396116 Are you all paying attention at all? This is a reflection of unhappiness and fear of what the Obama administration is capable of. It is not about sore losers or racism. If it was, you would have seen this type of thing before. This is unprecedented. People are afraid of what Obama White House is capable of. Hopefully, he will listen and alleviate the fears. Hopefully congress will listen and see that this is not a good path to be on with the people. Read between the secession petition lines... |

As far-fetched as it may sound, the White House might soon be forced by its own rules to examine the question. Quoting: waht On Nov.7, the day after President Barack Obama was re-elected, the White House’s website received a petition asking the administration to allow Louisiana to secede. If 25,000 people sign the petition by Dec. 7, it will “require a response” from the Obama administration, according to published rules of the White House’s online “We the People” program. [link to dailycaller.com] I hope they all leave. If you want to disrespect our president, GET OUT!!! It's going to take work and sacrifice to get the country back on track. We don't need racist misogynist men as leaders in this country. If this was about racism, this would have happened in 2008. Stop using the dang race card already. So annoying.. |

Sometimes sheer numbers are not as important as their focus and passion... Again, I am not in anyway advocating secession...however do not underestimate the importance of small but focused groups of people either This is an expression of extreme frustration and sad sign of the polarization in this country. As an independent I would be just as alarmed if this were a movement led by a blue state like Hawaii or Oregon If this keeps going I'd say someone in Washington needs to say or do something in coming months to assure these people that their concerns will not be ignored or stiffled |

Quoting: - 27605885 The problem is right in their own state. Petition to DC will only send them a list of names of dissidents. They can't kill off over 100,00, so far, combined U.S. citizens. Congress has to take notice. |

If a petition gets enough support, White House staff will review it, ensure it’s sent to the appropriate policy experts, and issue an official response.” Like a Hellfire missile through your front window. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 27565961 United States 11/12/2012 10:11 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I also posted the following on one of the other related threads yesterday. Take heed: Quoting: ClydeX >>>>> Of all the talk and threads related to secession; Most all of these are knee-jerk reactions that have not been thought out. Until a proposed governmental structure (laws), revised Constitution (laws), and proposed means to address fiscal responsibilities and liabilities (laws) that would outline the state's continued operation separate from the US Federal Government and the protections defined by means of the US Constitution (as these states would surely now be at-odds with the US) - you have no idea what you're actually promoting. This is akin to loading the family in the car for vacation, though no preparation, no packing of clothes/ food/ supplies, no determined destination, and not even a determination of direction of travel has been made. You are then traveling an unknown path, headed for unknown interactions that may well likely include many unforeseen troubles and calamities - and your family is now an integral part of this very dynamic equation. Just because there is fuel in the car doesn't mean you're prepared for the trip. Many states are similar to my own (Colorado), in that the majority of the state is populated by working, keep-to-yourself, small government supporters. However, it is the few larger cities within said states (Denver and Boulder for example in Colorado) that overwhelm the representation of the state to be considered as a liberal one. Of course, a majority of the citizenry are interested in returning to the "freedoms" we enjoyed in the recent past. The dangers are that, until specific language is recorded to determine the path, direction, and ultimate destination - you may well be trading off for another government that has even greater desire to influence and control your life. let me finish your thought for you: So its better to sit around and do nothing, so that nothing will ever change. Since you have no backbone to stand up and be counted for something, you deserve what you get! |

Quoting: Resister Besides, those petitions are not coming from the states so they don't matter at all. Any real secession effort would have to go through the state legislatures and governors first and there would have to be a vote of congress. Not gonna happen. Hell, we can't even impeach the lying treasonous marxist in the Whitehouse. What makes anybody with half a brain think congress would vote to allow the states to secede? 100% correct Life's a journey not a destination, how high can you fly with broken wings |

They will receive no real media attention and life will go on as the gubmint sees fit.....just my prediction. Quoting: Dried Up Hag I believe you are correct. However, at this point in time, the real reason for these petitions is to put our elected officials "On Notice" that we are fed up. This is much like the "Committees of Correspondence" and the First Continental Congress that sent letters of greivance to King George. The Colonists knews damn well that the King would not listen to them, but they also knew that to sit back and do nothing was not the answer either. |

YOU DON'T ASK FUCKIN PERMISSION TO SECEDE. You just do it. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 16764653 Damn right - I wish they had the balls to do it They will, but it will come at a particular time and circumstances. The American Colonists were very patient with the abuses of the Crown and they, like us now, were petitioning their leaders to change course, sending letters of greivance, etc. However, one thing and one thing only really lit the fuse and that was Lexington and Concord. I hope it does not get to that as it will be a very destablizing event in our Nation's history that will take many decades to recover. The more these abuses go on by D.C., the more I respect our Founding Fathers for what they had to endure and the decisions they had to make. |
