White House deluged with petitions for secession | |

A tax revolt with enough steam could be a tipping point. The government is broke. 15 million people abandoned the system during the last election. It makes sense, really. We are more divided than ever. Ultimately, it will come down to economics as the bankers will just tell their government what to do. |

Signing these petitions definitely leaves the footprints behind. Quoting: - 27605885 The problem is right in their own state. Petition to DC will only send them a list of names of dissidents. ^^^ THIS ^^^ Please think twice before signing any document of this kind I know someone who signed a "no nukes" petition in 2000...and after 9/11 found herself on the national No-Fly list. Everytime she went to travel, she was pulled aside for questioning, even though she had never joined any radical group, and didn't have a criminal record nor a foreign sounding name she finally was told that people who signed any kind of "peace" organization petition or anti-war group were considered potential risks to the US military right or wrong, thats the way it happens. |

Take heed: >>>>> Of all the talk and threads related to secession; Most all of these are knee-jerk reactions that have not been thought out. Until a proposed governmental structure (laws), revised Constitution (laws), and proposed means to address fiscal responsibilities and liabilities (laws) that would outline the state's continued operation separate from the US Federal Government and the protections defined by means of the US Constitution (as these states would surely now be at-odds with the US) - you have no idea what you're actually promoting. This is akin to loading the family in the car for vacation, though no preparation, no packing of clothes/ food/ supplies, no determined destination, and not even a determination of direction of travel has been made. You are then traveling an unknown path, headed for unknown interactions that may well likely include many unforeseen troubles and calamities - and your family is now an integral part of this very dynamic equation. Just because there is fuel in the car doesn't mean you're prepared for the trip. Many states are similar to my own (Colorado), in that the majority of the state is populated by working, keep-to-yourself, small government supporters. However, it is the few larger cities within said states (Denver and Boulder for example in Colorado) that overwhelm the representation of the state to be considered as a liberal one. Of course, a majority of the citizenry are interested in returning to the "freedoms" we enjoyed in the recent past. The dangers are that, until specific language is recorded to determine the path, direction, and ultimate destination - you may well be trading off for another government that has even greater desire to influence and control your life. Update: Texas secession petition on White House website fast approaching 25,000-signature threshold [link to trailblazersblog.dallasnews.com] I live in Texas and I'll say this. Every politician on the far right has went down the ol' Secession Road. It gets your name out to fringe groups etc..I don't have a problem with that, Texans have heard this same song and dance for over 150 years now. It goes in one ear and out the other. It's true that what would happen after secession has not been thought out by most people signing these petitions however, that has never stopped humans in the past from calmly embarking on all kinds of world changing misadventures, such as the last civil war, the First world war and the Iraq war the problem is that reason has nothing to do with it when people get pushed far enough, are desperate enough or filled with enough emotion to override the desire to maintain the status-quo...or the status-quo is abruptly changed and the social contract renogiated without apparent consent As a student of history, you can see all the necessary ingredients for combustion in the current situation...and building It's not just in the USA however, it is clearly similar in Europe and probably brewing in China as well I think 2013 will be the beginning of an extremely rocky era for these increasingly autocratic yet highly indebted nation states. How they manage to contain restless populations while trying to balance their budget shortfalls should be interesting Here's How We Know Beijing Is Terrified About Social Unrest [link to www.businessinsider.com] and a few headlines to google online: Switzerland Prepares For Mass Civil Unrest In Europe Social unrest on the rise in Europe, says ILO report "Welfare cuts and unemployment fueling protests and anxiety across the continent" shit is real and global Last Edited by IssueX on 11/12/2012 03:47 PM |

BS it all you want...and I am not left of center, but I do follow the no fly list articles and listen to countless stories from friends at the time This happened, and if you think it doesn't, you have your head up your ass No-fly blacklist snares political activists A federal "No Fly" list, intended to keep terrorists from boarding planes, is snaring peace activists at San Francisco International and other U. S. airports, triggering complaints that civil liberties are being trampled. [link to www.sfgate.com] Edited to add: [link to www.globalissues.org] US anti-war activists hit by secret airport ban By Andrew Gumbel 03 August 2003 After more than a year of complaints by some US anti-war activists that they were being unfairly targeted by airport security, Washington has admitted the existence of a list, possibly hundreds or even thousands of names long, of people it deems worthy of special scrutiny at airports. ....It is not just left-wingers who feel unfairly targeted. Right-wing civil libertarians have spoken out against the secret list, and at least one conservative organisation, the Eagle Forum, says its members have been interrogated by security staff. Anyone who thinks that signing a petition like this won't put them on some kind of govt "person of interest" list should think twice that said, if you feel strongly on the subject you shouldn't let fear of the government keep you from doing something you believe in.. just be aware of the consequences before you do it, and accept that you are now on the govt radar jmho Last Edited by IssueX on 11/12/2012 04:01 PM |
