How can you not know what Vegemite is?
That's like asking an American what a Twinkie is!!! Lololol

We don't have it over here. I've never seen it in my entire life, the only reason I know what it is at all is from the land down under song lol. What's it taste like?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 25447468

You can import it its not actually banned, but not sell it in stored in the USA because its not FDA approved because it has added folate and in the US you can only add folate to cereals and breads.

Its similar to marmite but not the same.

Marmite is quite similar, not as salty and tart perhaps.

Re: How do you explain a 72 year old male who hasn't been to the dentist for 50 years can still have perfect teeth?
Sugar causes cavities. Don't eat sugar.

I haven't been to the dentist in about 20 years. Since I got out of the military. Never had a cavity. All perfectly straight. All bright white.

I don't eat sugar. Sugar is the number one killer. It rots your teeth. Also I haven't drunk tap water in 20 years. And I use non fluoride toothpaste. A few times a week I brush with peroxide. And I rub lemons on my teeth.

Isn't it bugs that feed on sugar that actually cause the cavities?

Re: How do you explain a 72 year old male who hasn't been to the dentist for 50 years can still have perfect teeth?
My dad!
I insisted he go to the dentist at least for a clean.
The dentist was completely gob smacked.. He took photos to get right into my dads crooked teeth and not a cavity in sight.. Still beautifully white as well..
My dad has not looked after himself since my mother died and I doubt he cleans his teeth often.
The only thing I can think of is my dad eats 4 pieces of toast every morning with Vegemite an inch thick on each piece. The dentist thinks maybe the high salt content had preserved his teeth..
Anyone else no anyone who still has a completely perfect set of teeth at this age??

He has perfect teeth precisely by not going to the dentist. A lot of dentists fake drill because they can make a lot of money that way. Their perfect victim is a young child and a parent who has trust in the medical profession. All those beautiful teeth the dentist just drills away making all that money. And in the end, when the child grows up and reaches about 30, all their drilled out teeth start to shatter and it is cap time and a whole lot more money for the dentist. That is why dentists have the highest suicide rate of any profession; it is because all those guardian angels of all those poor children who got their teeth unnecessarily drilled out, get into the brains of the dentist and convince them to kill themselves. And who the hell knows what the guardian angels do to that dentist once they are dead and in the realm of the angels, but whatever it is it can't be pretty. The first thing they do to the female dentists is probably cut their tits off and cut out their clits; remember there is no preferential treatment given to females on the other side as they are given here rockon

Well, I'm 22 and never had a cavity or needed to even go to the dentist, I don't brush everyday either...Though I got a wisdom tooth that's starting to hurt so I'm probably gonna need to go soon. =/

We have dentists doing commercials on our local TV saying wisdom teeth are useless and just need to be taken out to avoid future problems. That's their whole business, taking out wisdom teeth.

No idea how but I'm a bit jealous! I take good care of my teeth and still manage to need quite a bit of dental work. My husband on the other hand will be like your father when he hits 72. I've known my husband for almost 10 years and the most he has needed done is to have a tooth ground down a bit so he'll stop grinding his teeth from stress.

My husband is 50, has perfect teeth and no cavities. He has only been to the dentist a few times. He also still looks like he is 25 & has great body with washboard abs... Some people age slowly and gracefully.

Sensodyne or try taking turmeric capsules. Turmeric has acted as a pain anti inflammatory for me since I started taking it.

It could also be that the wisdom tooth you're having issues with is pushing on other teeth. That was my issue about two years ago with my top left wisdom tooth. I needed that particular wisdom tooth removed so it would stop crowding the tooth in front of it. Once it was removed and healed it was instant relief. The dentist left my other wisdom tooth alone and said it wouldn't be an issue unless it started to cause pain.

Yup - I had perfect teeth in my twenties,.
before going to some fucker who over a three yr period ruined most of my teeth. After I stopped going, found out he topped himself because someone else sued him for malpractice and ruining their teeth with unnecessary work.

I havn't seen a dentist for 12 yrs, just let all the filled ones fall out and the rest are fine! - Dentistry is set up for one thing - making dentists lots of money!

Re: How do you explain a 72 year old male who hasn't been to the dentist for 50 years can still have perfect teeth?
I haven't been to a dentist in 19 years (I'm 45 y/o)....except to replace fillings which fell out (I unfortunately got fillings alot at ages 9-11 y/o)

I eat sugary foods frequently
I smoke 1-2 packs of cigs a day
I don't brush my teeth very often (when I do it's with baking soda and hydrogen peroxide)

I do oil pulling with olive oil once a month.

I do take lot's of supplements (10,000 IU of D a day)
I avoid fluoride like the plague.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Funny...between 1989-1993 I was going to the dentist regularly and my teeth were loose, my gums were bleeding and receeding and I had severe headaches and sinus problems after I used the products the dentist gave me.
Finally...I said screw it......the dentist must be and idiot...
I got better when I stopped doing anything a dentist told me.
That's also when I questioned any and all main stream doctors and their drugs.
Re: How do you explain a 72 year old male who hasn't been to the dentist for 50 years can still have perfect teeth?
It's because it's
dentists,
fluoride and
bad diet that cause tooth decay.
...
Dr Gerald Judd also put a free book online on how to remineralize tooth damage by fixing your diet, especially by including enough phosphorus, vitamin c, calcium, vitamin d, vitamin k and avoiding refined sugars and refined grains.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 27582562
From Dr Judd's book:
[link to www.quantumbalancing.com]
Rinse acids off the teeth during eating (ref 4).
Brush the teeth with bar soap (ref 5).
Take calcium pills with vitamin D daily (ref 6).
Take monosodium phosphate daily (ref 7).
Take freshly made sodium ascorbate daily for gum connections to the teeth (ref 8).
Dispense with the worry that bacteria harm teeth: THEY CANNOT (ref 9).
Dispense with the worry that sugar destroys teeth. I find sugar has little or nothing to do with cavities (ref 10).
Avoid all fluoride products. They destroy teeth, unravel enzymes and cause 113 ailments (ref 11).
its not the sugar
its the acid from foods & drinks - tart acids destroy enamel rapidly
rinse with water as you eat, or at least right after.
Most likely he never acquired the bacteria that makes dental cavities. There are a signification portion of the population that never does, so they never get cavities.
To people saying "I smoke and I have perfectly white teeth" I call BS though. Obviously that's going to stain your teeth over time. That's like painting your wall black and saying "My wall is still white the pain doesn't do anything to my walls."
The same reason I, a 74 year old, still can get IT up big time. We have practised and worked at it for the last 70 years.
