Every year I laugh at the looks on their faces. Trick is to use a different colored wrap paper so they don't associate this gift with matching the ones they know you bought. Then they'd say, honest mom, we didn't get you that, I'd pass it off as if it wasn't you it has to be St Nick or the Christmas Angel. |

The idea is that people aren't spending as much on themselves, but not because they don't have the funds, rather due to fear that they won't later. That's one definition of what a depression is. Caused by fear of not having enough, rather than honest shortages. Which is why we always have them, in cycles and won't ever be able to control the market forces totally. Humans are quasi herd animals and panic in groups. But they also move that way... So treat yourself to something nice this year! It helps you and the economy. :) |
