The most underrated concept album of all time? Amused to Death by Roger Waters.

No album does a better job describing the world we live in. "The Bravery of Being Out of Range," starting at the 17:40 mark, perfectly describes Dick Cheney.

Re: Best rock concept album?
Any answer not linking to a Pink Floyd album will be wholly disregarded.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 6732797

Hmmm...I was thinking I should get AC/DC to go give that poor womans titty a break.

But if Pink Floyd wants to volunteer, fine by me...let's you just keep thinking them happy thoughts.

Oh dude...how old are you? 12?

This album came out in 1988. A bit before your 10-20 year reference. They were cutting edge at the time.

Mastadon? Really? Good thrash, but the vocal style has no range.

I'm trying to think of something Roger Waters was involved in that wasn't a themed album of sorts. I haven't listened to this, but I'm going to here in a bit! After his Pink Floyd days, he seemed very melancholy and depressing so I haven't followed his work after that time. Certainly worth a listen, though!

Depending on my mood, either Pink Floyd's DSOTM or Radiohead's OK Computer.
 Quoting: Mango Positive

Radiohead don't make 'concept' albums they make albums that they have haarp set up to beam to people and make them live it out.

This! What is he 14 with poor fucking taste in music.

Nearly 25 years on and the original Mindcrime has held up pretty well. It was quite well received at the time.

To each his own

Re: Best rock concept album?
It's a toss-up between Operation:Mindcrime, which was so far ahead of it's time it's still considered by many to be one of the most influential albums ever recorded, or Ghost Reveries by Opeth.

Honorable mention goes to Spock's Beard : Snow, or Neal Morse : Testimony.

Don't get me wrong - I LOVE Floyd (hell my favorite album is UmmaGumma), but I never really saw the division bell as a concept album, per se.
