Philligan (OP) in rainbows User ID: 2530194 United States 11/22/2012 09:18 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | In his own blog at facebook the guy tells that "His daughter wanted to try out the new songs at this artists (Chisu, a local celebrity) new record before she'd spend her saved money for the record. He had to go to work so he left her daughter at the computer showing a few search engines and telling her what to search to get samples of the music (didn't specify exactly what where and how). Later his daughter told him that 'she found something but they didn't work', so they went and bought the record anyways. After that, the lawyers and the cops showed up." It's a big rumour in here that the torrent she'd found was planted by the rightful distributors of Chisu's music and the files were just random data, and they'd follow who downloaded it and persecuted (this is a rumour and not confirmed, however father claims that he has some proof of this). Anonymous Coward User ID: 551387 United States 11/22/2012 09:44 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | That's an interesting thought. Is intent to do something illegal enough to be counted as a crime there? If you think about hitting your neighbor (for being a jerk, let us say) but don't do it, would that be enough to be arrested for assault? With mind reading capability coming down the pipe in the next few decades, it isn't a trivial or silly topic. If this girl didn't actually get real files, then what copyright did she infringe? Even if we disregard the idea that she's f-ing nine. Because she knows better? |

CIAPC, the company that had The Pirate Bay blocked by ISPs in Finland, tracked an alleged file-sharer and demanded a cash settlement. However, the Internet account holder refused to pay which escalated things to an unprecedented level. In response, this week police raided the home of the 9-year-old suspect and confiscated her Winnie the Pooh laptop. Quoting: Philligan [link to torrentfreak.com] They should all be locked up for abuse of power and the girl should receive all of their pay checks. |

She was trying to listen to music for free! Artists don't want people to listen to their music or see their works, don't you people get that... Artists & perfomers are private people and they want to be left alone and they don't want their message to be heard! What is wrong with all you people.... |

They can't, therefore there is no crime (Because no damages can ever be proven). Of course, that's only according to logic and sanity. |

Philligan (OP) in rainbows User ID: 2530194 United States 11/22/2012 10:40 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I dont think she thought she was doing wrong when she downloaded it, as her father said she wanted to listen to some of the new album before buying it, and if they did in fact purchase it the next day. which should be easy to check, then his story is beyond reproach. Now it is up to the organisation that seized her laptop without a court case to explain themselves to the court, or are the police allowed to come into any home and just seize stuff without a court order? And if there was a court order why was the accused not made aware of it so they could put there side of the story forward. Pray for Us Sinners Now and at the Hour of our Death |
