Quoting: Just Some Guy Even if Romney had won I wasn't planning on a big Christmas at all. With Obama winning, I certainly am not spending a dime. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Actually you should spit on the dime, there's a good portrait of FDR on that, and he's the scum that destroyed and sold out this Holy, Sacred, and Precious Country! Cyber Monday also sucked. 10% off, not 25% or free shipping and no discount, not both like I'm used to. Granted, my sample is sewing and sporting stuff but sewing crap is always good the weekend after Thanksgiving. Even $1000 sewing machines were $600, not $400 like usual. These are pretty standard sales every year, online and in stores. Quoting: SewDucky They are looking at the amount they made for the weekend. With less deals, prices not being steeply discounted, etc., sure it looks like it's improving. But the test is volume, which amounts to shoppers in the store, and that is way down. It's a lie of omission. They are omitting the fact that you're not saving like you have in years past and they are omitting the fact that people didn't shop like before. I agree. The deals sucked. |
BAD WOLF User ID: 23496149 United States 11/27/2012 05:55 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | We don't go out and buy new whenever there's newly released and shiney. We wait till it's worn out and broken to replace it. We have an old saying in our home " Use up the old before using the new" which has stuck quite well. We also reuse old grocery bags and old plastic containers that arn't a loss cause because they are quite handy. However I do know that not everyone is like my family because even at my earliest memories of holidays and birthdays we do save wrapping paper that was used if it's still good. There are people who doesn't wait till the one they have breaks down before breaking down and buying brand-new. They'd rather buy the new 'shineys' than keeping what works till it doesn't. Materialism at best... I'm not surprised that this would be true because there are alot of these sorts out there rather than the ones who use, reuse, still use and repair to be used what's broken. Quoting: Justalittlebad "Consumer confidence rose in November to the highest level in more than four years, a sign U.S. household spending will keep growing. The Conference Board’s confidence index climbed to 73.7, the highest since February 2008, from a revised 73.1 reading the prior month, figures from the New York-based private research group showed today. The median forecast of 75 economists surveyed by Bloomberg projected a reading of 73." [link to www.businessweek.com] I believe it, most people are TARDS |

Quoting: Risqman Just figure so many people have it in the back of their minds the doom & gloom about the end of the world on 12/21/12 and although they don't entirely buy it, they are going to buy the shit out of things and run up credit cards to near max just in case the SHTF and they won't have to worry about paying it all back. You're spending too much time on sites like this. In the real world there are very few people who take the 12/21 crap seriously. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 1244165 United States 11/27/2012 06:43 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | They are lying out of their asses to us. Are more dollars flowing through the economy? Yes, but those are deflated dollars that have less buying power. And at the rate they are printing money through "quantitative easing" you won't be able to afford a loaf of bread soon. But for now they mask the inflation of prices for daily goods and services by throwing in automobiles and homes... Is the stock market up? Sure it is. Once again the rising stock prices are a function of the devalued dollar. The value of the businesses the stock markets represent haven't increased in value, it just takes more deflated dollars to buy a share. Total B.S. Do you know what a con artist is? A con artist is a person who gives you false confidence about a scam. Our government is the biggest scam going. How many of you would pay taxes if there wasn't a withholding tax? Do you think our elected officials (a.k.a., public servants) are being good stewards of our hard earned dollars? Hell no. Wake up people. We work 45 years or more of our lives to help a few people at the top to achieve their dreams. Start taking control of your destiny. |
