Your accusations against the Good Dr. Gonzo are a product of miscalculated paranoia. You may even be right about them, but as Christ died so that *you* don't have to, so did Hunter S. Thompson sacrifice himself and his life so that you don't have to. Maybe it's true that he was involved in many of the sinister aspects of this world, but if so, it was so that he could enlighten those that did not know.

As for myself, I don't know. I've read the conspiracy theories surrounding him, and I've read some of his work. From my vantage point, it seems as if he left a lot of clues behind that many neither see nor understand. They view a lot of the things he said as ridiculous aspects of the persona he built for his public image. I see that as one possible truth. The other possible truth I see is a man that knew and saw too much, but didn't have the ability to confess the terrors he'd seen without damaging his ability to go further and try to expose The Beast, as I'm sure he'd have phrased it.

Check out Better Than Sex: Confessions of a Political Junkie if you'd like. Of particular note is the timeline he runs as an aside throughout (that he makes special note of). He exposed the Shock and Awe technique as it's used by the United States Politburo a decade before 9/11. Some rumors even state that he was working on a grand piece *about* 9/11 before his suicide. These rumors would also state that he was "suicided".
