Urban User ID: 6566746 United States 11/30/2012 09:39 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | NASA scientists took time on Wednesday (Nov. 28) to soothe 2012 doomsday fears, warning against the dark side of Mayan apocalypse rumors — frightened children and suicidal teens who truly fear the world may come to an end Dec. 21. Quoting: _KiLLuMiNaTi_ These fears are based on misinterpretations of the Mayan calendar. On the 21st, the date of the winter solstice, a calendar cycle called the 13th b'ak'tun comes to an end. Although Maya scholars agree that the ancient Maya would not have seen this day as apocalyptic, rumors have spread that a cosmic event may end life on Earth on that day. Thus NASA's involvement. The space agency maintains a 2012 information page debunking popular Mayan apocalypse rumors, such as the idea that a rogue planet will hit Earth on Dec. 21, killing everyone. (In fact, astronomers are quite good at detecting near-Earth objects, and any wandering planet scheduled to collide with Earth in three weeks would be the brightest object in the sky behind the sun and moon by now.) read more: [link to www.livescience.com] So basically your post is exactly the opposite of your title. AllGunsBlazing User ID: 28514845 United States 11/30/2012 10:04 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Just more end of the world peddling by pseudo-scientists trying to make a buck off gullible people. People claim NASA is covering it up. Usually conspiracy theorists say, "follow the money." Well what does NASA profit from covering up any of those theories? Nothing. What do the people who are peddling these insane theories get? Just type 2012 into your netflix search bar. Look up all the books that have been written on this supposed event. It's a huge business, built on fooling people through pseudo-scientific claims and claiming any evidence to the contrary is a cover up, while they have no evidence of their own. The "dark side" of these doomsday theories is that dumb, impressionalbe people might believe them and commit suicide out of fear of the end of the world. Young kids and teenagers are particularly at risk. There is also the risk of groups of people over-reacting and "jumping the gun" and going live with their doomsday plans when there is no doomsday. When it is not the apocalypse it is called either grand theft or looting. |

Maybe it'll take him a decade to wipe out the earth population via different means, such as war, earthquakes, nuclear contamination, famine, virus. so both Mayans and NASA are correct. We don't know how he worked and how long it took him to wipe out the majority of last civilization, few lived to tell. But most likely it wasn't like a one-day deal |
