We don't need to lie to them. If anything it destroys their imagination and creativity to have their parents tell them lies about reality. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 25918130 I agree. We lie to our children. Give them something to believe in, and crush them when they find out that theres no magic in the world. If anything, the santa lie destroys their creativity and imagination. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1550123 well, parents do buy the presents and then lie to their kids that someone else did that. parents know that santa is a lie. everyone knows this. santa is not a religion or even part of Christianity. it really is not good to lie to kids when you know for sure the person does not exist. oh shut the fuck up, its just for fun, it creates imagination, wonder and creativity in children look at the fuckin bullshit world, at least there is some thing to look forward to in life, especially around christmas Bullshit. It is lying to your children. They are people. When you lead them on a years long LIE it devastates their image of you and their own morality. How do I know? I specifically remember learning that Santa was a lie and being furious at my folks for tricking me. When I confronted them they just smirked. I hated them for it. Parents who lie to their children suck and it sets a horrible precedent. My 5 year old flat out asked me and I said no wants is not real. Never once did I play that game. But niether did we say anything about it. They got enough of the bullshit from school. My boy was empowered with the truth and he was pleased with me for being honest. It taught him to always tell the truth no matter what. You clearly have deep issues if you were furious with and went on to hate your parents because they let you believe in Santa.... Most of us normal, well-adjusted people believed in Santa as well, and remember it as a magical and wonderful time in our childhood lives that we wouldn't trade for anything. Believing in fairy tales as a child, when your supposed to, and then learning the truth as you get older is NOT harmful; it is merely part of growing up. The VAST majority of us went through this process with no trust issues and no regrets. Exactly! That's part of BEING A CHILD! To believe in the magical, whimsical things and enjoy those fantasies before you grow up and realize things aren't always so much fun and without a care! Wow. |

It's a joke to think that lieing about santa is what creates imagination... |

To believe in the magical, whimsical things and enjoy those fantasies before you grow up and realize things aren't always so much fun and without a care! Wow. Wow...santa is not the only "whimsical thing" a child can enjoy. The difference, is that the santa lie is perpetrated by the parents. There are PLENTY of other magical fantasies kids can enjoy and believe in that leave the mystery wide open for the rest of their lives - faeries, mermaids, unicorns, etc... Once they learn that santa is a lie, how much imagination do you think a child will bother with on the other magical mysteries? On the magical side of life? Once they learn that santa was a lie, there will always be a spot of distrust. A lie is a LIE! A kid may "get over it", but the damage is deep and intangible. And for people to blow it off (and any impact it has on a child) is a sad state of unawareness. |

It's all a lie...if this is the only way people know to enrich a childs life and introduce magic...you all need to wake up. Lies will never enrich anyone or anything. |

Maybe it is by design. When and if I have children, I will not deceive them with the santa deception but will fill their little imaginations about the Wonder and Truth of the Kingdom of God and his Angels and the like. There is no need to lie to them. Kinda sets a bad precedent, no? Last Edited by TheSeventhGate on 12/05/2012 02:19 PM The pawns are in place, the stage is set. The question is, are you ready? Youre wrong...please refer to my bio of st. Nicholas on page one...add to it he DID fly around the world in a manner of speaking. He had seemed to doze off during a council once and when he awoke, he was chided. He answered while i seemingly slept I was on a ship in high seas during a storm and saved many Italian sailors while through the grace of God, calming the sea. Later a ship limped into the turkish port and the sailors when they saw the old Bishop exclaimed he was their rescuer. He often bilocated. There is a city in Italy that 1,7oo yrs later still celebrates in May the rescue of all on board by the red and white clothed elder man with a white beard. And if only the truth is allowed...lets make EVERY politician speak only when hooked up to a lie detector...lets ban Winnie the pooh, because bears dont speak to most people. Lets ban all but reality shows on tv. and ban gone with the wind and so on ad nauseum. |

What people should be outraged about is the fact that some strange person has set themselves up as an authority figure over other people's children and has the power to dictate what part of their parents' teachings are true and what are false..... I realize that this is only a drop in the bucket compared to what really goes on in schools.....but - think about it. The schoolteacher has the power to undermine the decisions of the parents with regards to their own children.... |
