Saw it here in Georgia too, couldn't hear it burning but it freaked me out. Loud rumbles all night too. It was fairly slow moving compared to "falling stars" and large. Didn't hear an impact of any kind but it was shocking to see.. Nothing else since then

Why pin? Meteors plunge through our atmosphere all the time. These "fireballs" are NOTHING new or significant.

All eye-witnesses on that site the OP provided a link to say it's the biggest and brightest meteor they've ever seen. Coincidence that this is happening just before the Mayan end date?

How many meteors have you seen? I watch for them, and, excluding meteor showers, I've probably seen less than 15 isolated meteors in my whole life, 2 of which I would call spectacular. Most people are paying attention to the sky for the first time ever in the last few months.

Problem being, for most people, seeing ANY meteor would be the biggest and brightest meteor they've ever seen.
