OP you're clearly well educated and well versed in the Bible. It must have taken a great deal of time, a lifetime pursuit perhaps? But to what end? And why educate yourself and spend so much time on something you find so abhorrent??? (it's very bizarre and contradictory!)

The reason is the bible is a trick.

Jesus was a Judas Goat. One who leads others to their slaughter but escapes it himself. (no doubt he never died on the cross like many claim.) That is why there is so many verses where he says you are not worthy of me unless you pick up your Cross and follow me.

His role was to lead others to their death, in fact to lead whole nations to their destruction.

He was not only a Judas Goat but he also represented the Scape-goat which is why the Masons worship the goat.

I chose not to believe the Bible when I was in my teens and went the way of the so -called "deist"..
But Jesus tenderly and patiently directed my life, and when I was 34, came to the realization that the God of the Bible is controlling everything. I made the choice not to believe Him for many years. It is our personal choice.
You need to rethink your position regarding Jesus, for it is exclusively your own personal choice--no one else can make it for you. Death on the Cross for your sins and mine was truly a revolting, disgusting thing. But thank God, He suffered it! Your sins and mine are disgusting to Him, but He died for us anyway! Seek Him with all your heart and you will find Him. It's much more pleasant than using up those bitter emotions and all that energy denying Him.

Yes they do. I wish they could give up that burden and heartache and come to know the truth about God, justice, and the afterlife. People's actions and kindness and spirituality are what matter, not believing in a certain martyred man as your lord and savior. And the more time you spend trying to convert others to belief in your false dead man-god, the more regret you are going to feel when you learn the truth.

Jesus was not selfless. He was close to a megalomaniac. He told people they had to HATE their father and mother, children, wives, husbands, and even themselves or they could not follow him or make it to heaven. That is not selfless. Please don't tell me I am misinterpreting the Bible. This is exactly what Jesus said.

Jesus was not charitable. He, himself, gave up nothing except his life. Big deal. He would have died anyway, as some old man or of some disease. He told people they had to sell every single thing they owned to follow him. A man had led a very good life, followed all the laws, etc. He asked Jesus what he had to do to inherit eternal life. Jesus told him to sell everything and give it all to the poor. He, himself, was not charitable, yet he expected everyone else to be.

Jesus was not merciful. In the OT, there was no talk at all of eternal punishment. That didn't come into play until the megalamaniac named Jesus hit the scene. He told people that only a few, the few on the narrow road, would be saved. He hated the Pharisess who followed all the laws but told people they had to have the righteousness of the Pharisees to go to heaven. Jesus apparently suffered from schizophrenia as well. Jesus told people to be perfect. If they were not, they would go to hell with most of humanity. If you think this is merciful, you have more than a few screws loose.
