[link to quakes.globalincidentmap.com]

This is the 3rd day in a row that there has been an M4+ along the Mid-Atlantic Ridge.

There have been plenty of quakes there in the past, but typically seperated by weeks and/or months. It's not an overly active area usually.

If this ridge starts seeing more quakes and/or larger quakes, the potential is there for some serious East Coast trouble.

Just something to keep an eye on.

Yes I have been taking extra notice of these ridge quakes...mid Antarctic ridge and east Pacific rise have had some as well. popcorn

Kinda hard to keep an eye on that area when the earthquakes keep disappearing off the quake chart. Yesterdays quake was up for a few hours them poof-gone.

Cumbre Vieja volcanic ridge, Isla de La Palma in the Canary Islands.

[link to www.washingtonpost.com]

"Scientists have established at least two time bombs that could lead to a mega-tsunami hitting the U.S. East Coast.

The first is a submarine landslide at the edge of the continental shelf off the coasts of Virginia and North Carolina where unstable sections of the shelf could collapse into the trenches of the deep ocean. Should that occur scientists believe an 18-foot-high tsunami would propagate towards the coast and strike in a matter of hours.

The second time bomb is a mega-tsunami caused by a massive landslide as a large section of La Palma, one of the Canary Islands in the Eastern Atlantic, collapses into the ocean following a volcanic eruption of the Cumbre Vieja volcano on La Palma. If (when) this occurs, modeling results indicate a wall of water up to 300 feet high would race across the Atlantic and reach the East Coast in about nine hours with devastating effects.

A video from a Discovery Channel Special (minutes 3-6) has a vivid portrayal illustrating this phenomenon, including an explanation of why Washington and Philadelphia are particularly vulnerable due to the focusing of wave energy by the shape of the Chesapeake Bay.

An event of this extreme magnitude caused by a landslide into the open ocean is extremely rare. The last one happened 4,000 years ago on the island of Réunion. However, there are growing concerns that the ideal conditions for just such a landslide - and consequent mega-tsunami - now exist on the island of La Palma. However, there is no agreement on the probability of this occurring in the near future other than to note it is much less likely than large earthquake-driven tsunamis typical of the Pacific basin."

A good primer on Cumbre Vieja: [link to www.crystalinks.com]

interesting

exactly where Atlantis once was

shall it rise again in this times of change to show the past history of human civilization that there is a spirit in herint, that electricity called navaz or the night side of nature will once again be used in a manner to power flying ships during the earlier time of Atlantis

that human sacrifice is what eventually led to the destruction of Atlantis as the elements bonded together

I will ask the same question here I asked on the other earthquake thread:

What actual significance does this "swarm" of earthquakes have?? None.

How does posting such drivel help anyone?
It doesn't

Why post such insignificant information that can be found elsewhere far quicker than a forum thread?
Because you like wasting time on non-issues.

Why exactly should we keep an eye on this? I have to believe that there's hundreds of earthquakes per day worldwide, many right near your current "swarm".
You offered no insight at all. You offered no thoery at all. You offer no significant reason as to why we are supposed to watch this everyday occurance.
However, you have managed to take up server space needlessly, so I guess there's that.

Jesus H people.....a forum is for debating a subject or atleast providing a thoery to what you post. Posting times and dates of earthquakes will never help anyone anywhere under any circumstances. You "keep an eye" on this, the rest of us have crap to do.

Um...please refer me to the information that shows where a non-existent mega-island sank please. Matter of fact, please direct me to any conclusive evidence such a place existed please. Something besides the Illiad, mythology, ancient babble, or speculation please.

I'll save you the time....there is NONE. Do you realize just how many spelunkers have looked for Atlantis?? Gobs and gobs of cash have been spent by archaeologists and IndianAJ Shit types alike and ZIP,ZERO,ZILCH.

We have things that map the floors of the oceans with sonar. We have satellites which can take pictures using hundreds of different optics and crap, we have oil rigs constantly charting the sea floors looking for oil/gas deposits. None of those things have ever found anything even remotely relating to Atlantis.

Every day I come to GLP is an exercise in futility to say the least. Many of you chide the "sheep" because they will follow anything. Perhaps its time to turn that particular looking glass upon yourself and ask why you are stupid enough to believe something that has zero basis in reality.

Planet X? The Atlantic ridge is magnetic? No quakes in other parts of the world? Comon people, I know you're not this stupid. Do some research on Earthquakes; slip/slide quakes, tectonic plates, the ring of fire, ect ect. Please stop being sheeple without knowledge, the information is as easy to find as a Google search, so stop being lazy and dumb.
