If they were born blind i dontt see how it would be possible for the subconcious mind to conjur up a visual image and even if there was a visual image in their dream how would they knoe that they were in fact seeing having never seen before. They can still 'see' different situations and sinarios in their dreams though as we do. |

Vision is a form of energy transduced by the visual system and translated into adaptable cognitions of 3 dimensional space by the neurons that have developed for that purpose. Somebody without vision, has no concept or ability to translate the transduced signals being transported by the visual system, because they have no functioning visual cortex. |

Before you go off trying to intellectualize the question, understand that it is impossible to design an experiment to test this situation with current technology (at least that I know of). Without actually being able to design an experiment, i.e., apply the Scientific Method (thank you Mr. Bacon), your conjecture is merely philosophy. In my opinion, science must progress a great deal before we can even understand what the hell a "dream" is, much less what is consciousness. I hope my input helps OP. Who knows? |

I don't have a link but insaw it online a few years ago. The blind folks who achieved a genuine AP had perfect vision in that realm. Even if they were born blind. The Astral realm is the primary world. We are here in the physical but a nanosecond. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 6474499 this is the best i could find for you: Anjali - I considered answering your question myself, but decided that you might prefer an answer straight from the source. So I passed your question on to my friend, Laurie, who has been blind since she was fairly young. Here's what she had to say: " Yes, blind people do dream. What they see in their dreams depends on how much they could ever see. If someone has been totally blind since birth, they only have auditory dreams. If someone such as I, has had a measure of sight, then that person dreams with that measure of sight. I still dream as though I can see, colors included. For people I've met since, their faces are just blurs or how I imagine they look. To me, someone like my mother looks forever 30. " [link to van.physics.illinois.edu] |

If they can see things in their dreams, it would maybe prove that the spirit is going out of body during sleep. Otherwise how would the brain conjure up these things with no memory of having ever 'seen' anything ever registering in the brain. without the eyes to bring the images to the brain, anything seen in dreams such as roads, trees, people, furniture, houses, etc. would have to be an out of body experience. |

In my opinion, science must progress a great deal before we can even understand what the hell a "dream" is, much less what is consciousness. I hope my input helps OP. Who knows? If a person had sight before losing it, they (and hence their brains) have learned to form and interpret visual images. After loss of vision, they retain their ability to form mental images, and hence can dream in the visual modality (ie they can 'see' mental images during their dreams). If a person has never seen, it is not likely that they can form visual mental images (awake or asleep - regardless of whether there is activity in the visual cortices). But they can, and do, experience dreams through their other modalities (which are more sensitive and developed than ours). Here's one persons account (blind, but not since birth): "Yes, blind people do dream. What they see in their dreams depends on how much they could ever see. If someone has been totally blind since birth, they only have auditory dreams. If someone such as I, has had a measure of sight, then that person dreams with that measure of sight. Anonymous Coward User ID: 22054163 United States 12/14/2012 06:01 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Well if you have a really potent exploding head episode no matter how pitch black dark it is.... Everything goes pure white in a flash of light like a shot gun blast inside your own head but with air not buck shot. It is seeing but not outside the eyes coming into the eyes and reflection to be seen. It is inside perceived not outside the head. You can be laying down in bed getting ready to go to sleep. Then all of a sudden this exploding loud shot gun blast and pressure goes off in your head sometimes it feels like a hit to the back of your scalp and skull. The pressure feels like he sudden blast during your eye exams..for glaucoma but way more sprayed out an area and more forceful. I really thing that we do see with out eyes there is no way to see in dreams when the eye lids are taped shut and the room is pitch black you still dream in black and white or color images. And not only this but information can be taken in a remembered that you never ever heard of or knew at all so if you knew what never had been perceived at all. Why can't you see what never has been perceived before as well. Not only that but you can smell a sent you never have ever smelled before in your own perception with out knowing what it is you have perceived to smell. Maybe years later before you ever really find out what it is that produces that smell basically where did this come from what was its origin. How is it possible to see people you have never met or cars and places you have never been at or into. You never saw with your eyes these things ever yet you come to in time so how did your mind see this when your mind never saw it with eyes. We see with out eyes and smell with out noses we feel with out skin nerves....we hear with out ears and we taste with out tongues. Proving it is hard when their is no tangibility to it...all else from tangible is not reality and there fore not real and there for non existent. Perfect place to hide now isn't it no one will see you or it and if they did no one will or would believe them is they told it. Brilliant it is brilliant best thing about non temporal realm it hides from us with such ease. |
