The U.S has to ratify the UN citizen disarmament treaty they signed or risk losing, well...whatever's left. Problem is, that pesky right to bear arms is embedded in the U.S constitution, it's not in OZ or the UK who have already ratified it...only took one measly massacre in OZ and the UK and the plebs cashed in their ability to defend themselves when TSHTF.

As I've said before, I'm not anti-gun, even though I'm British. I think that banning guns leads to 1) there being a pride thing among criminals / gangs meaning they want guns solely because they're illegal, and 2) it sometimes produces a false sense of security that "oh that could never happen because there are no guns", but of course it can (See Derrick Bird and Raoul Moat for recent examples...)

I'm a hypocrite because I believe in gun safety????
