Re: As a former Christian... I understand how hard it is...
I hear ya' OP. I, too, know the heartbreak of realizing that I was believing a fable.

Oh, how I wish it were true that there was a god above, that actually loved me and cared about me. For the past several years I've also searched for that god within.

Still searching.

I still believe that the heart of the man kind is a beautiful thing; that we aren't the wicked souls that I had formerly thought.

I know lots of cruel people. I've been deeply hurt by some of them. But there's not one of these people who would point a weapon at children and begin shooting. Not one.

My faith is in my own heart and that of others who have searched their own heart also.

The interesting thing about realizing this is that fear no longer rules around me. "I don't know".......does not need to create fear.

If you read all the books of the 3 religions of the Middle East they contain the most unGODly passages within them, allegedly from GOD.

So if you use those books as a reference, and read over those unGODly bits, without hesitation, which most believers do, then you really are unknowing.

If you truly believe in GOD then anything that undermines the intellect and the omniscience of GOD simply must be wrong.

Therefore the reference material is seriously flawed!

Christ did not teach fear

He taught the exact opposite..Faith

and showed us that Faith can perform miracles

He showed us all as Christians and non Christians..that all the ugliness..all the hate ..all the violence..the cruelty..all that is fear inspiring ..can be absorbed by true Love and transformed into something wonderful..the miracle of Life..of Love..of the conquest and triumph of the spirit over matter..the Resurrection..

He is so amazing..I pray you honestly take the time to read the Gospels..Matthew for example

In the nearly 13,000 posts I've made here I dont ever recall putting the lable of NEW AGE onto myself.

But that's how you approximate with me.

And your approximation is innacurate and shows irresponsibility on your part.

Your post is a good example of how Christians have a tendancy to police and judge one another (catering to the social systems of MAN), often sloppily, while not keeping their focus on what is important.

I graduated from Christianity at age 14. I briefly approached it again in my twenties but then launched into the stratosphere of knowledge, leaving the mind control cult far in the dust. I've read the bible cover to cover. I am my own priest.

I still believe in God. Just not a bearded man sitting on a throne. I still regard Jesus's philosophies as good teachings, but I bow down to no being or entity.

It's not a matter of pride. It's a matter of insisting on true equality, since equality is a natural result of true love.

Not following a church or some virgin's opinion of the bible does not make you evil. Although the brainwashed think otherwise.

You you opened heart to the Lord? You are saying you had relationship with God and Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit and are now turning your back on that personal relationship?

If you never had the relationship then how can you steer people away from what you never had?

Neither makes sense, however I appreciate the opportunity for folks who may wonder what are you talking about to make up their own minds(Who are you or who is anybody else regarding telling folks what to believe and not believe)

The best way to strike up a relationship with Jesus Christ and God is by reading the 4 Gospels of Jesus Christ. They are titled Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. The Good News Bible in modern English is an easy read. Use commentaries for guidance on what terms from yesterday translate into today. This is all FREE and you shall become FREE if you so desire.

[link to www.e-sword.net] Bibles and Commentaries..FREE

At that time Jesus said, "Father, Lord of heaven and earth! I thank you because you have shown to the unlearned what you have hidden from the wise and learned. Yes, Father, this was how you were pleased to have it happen. "My Father has given me all things. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him. "Come to me, all of you who are tired from carrying heavy loads, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke and put it on you, and learn from me, because I am gentle and humble in spirit; and you will find rest. For the yoke I will give you is easy, and the load I will put on you is light."
(Matthew 11:25-30)

The goal is to have relationship with Jesus Christ and God through God's Holy Spirit that is also known as Communion anywhere anytime.

You fail and reveal you followed the words of some human not God.

This is what Jesus Christ says about you and your Bullshit!

But the time is coming and is already here, when by the power of God's Spirit people will worship the Father as he really is, offering him the true worship that he wants. God is Spirit, and only by the power of his Spirit can people worship him as he really is."

Humans, thou shalt not kill humans.

Mark 7:14-23: “Again Jesus called the crowd to him and said, ‘Listen to me, everyone, and understand this. Nothing outside a man can make him unclean by going into him. Rather, it is what comes out of a man that makes him unclean.’ After he had left the crowd and entered the house, his disciples asked him about this parable. ‘Are you so dull?’ he asked. ‘Don't you see that nothing that enters a man from the outside can make him `unclean'? For it doesn't go into his heart but into his stomach, and then out of his body.’(In saying this, Jesus declared all foods "clean.") He went on: ‘What comes out of a man is what makes him `unclean.' For from within, out of men's hearts, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly. All these evils come from inside and make a man `unclean.’”

Can't you see that the Christian gods are false gods? The Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit? The only one of the three close to being real is the Holy Spirit, also known as The Great Spirit. But Christians tried to convert the Native Americans from their belief in the Great Spirit, to a belief in two men sitting in the sky, one of which was originally born to a woman on earth and then made into a false god by the Christians. They will have to answer for that, for their cruelty and for forcing people to believe in something that was wrong.
