| Anonymous Coward User ID: 29738085  Canada12/23/2012 10:20 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | clever, but im a little leary of using a traditional bow for defense, or hunting for that matter. i would reccomend purchasing a compound for any use, whether it be hunting or otherwise. you will certainly gain a lot more accuracy and velocity, if nothing else, reliability. shooting a traditional bow isnt all its cracked up to be. get a good 60-70lb compound. that way you arent going to wound whatever your hunting, unless its a squirrel at 10 yards. food for thought. good luck |

The English longbow had an unbelievable pull of well over 100 pounds (as high as 190lbs). The archers managed such pull weight by training hard. They did not pull back and hold. They released the instant they achieved a full draw. Very good archers using recurve and longbows shoot the same way. Your aim is instinctive and is achieved as you mount your arrow and draw. I'm not that good. Still, the potential is there for massive destructive capability. |
