Might also be ready to kick the bucket and may leave all his stuff to you , you never know?he is sniffing around to see if you need the money. Bottom line, he is harmless, put up with him. |

Try and see the world from his perspective and it'll help you handle it better...good luck. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 11995231 Poland 12/27/2012 04:55 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | My neighbor, an older man in his 80's has become a nusiance. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 25998001 He always comes over to see what we are doing when we are outside working. I work a lot of hours, and my wife does too, so when we get a chance to work around the outside of the house its kind of annoying to stop work to talk to him. If I am raking leaves, he will say, hand me your rake and I'll help you. He inquires about our comings and goings and is becoming a nusiance. I know he is old, and probably does not have many people to talk to, but I want to shout at him and tell him how much I hate him being around, and to stay out of my yard. Any advice? I dont think your neigbors action is nosey. I do believe this is a time for you to show compassion and take advantage of a life lesson. Maybe once a month invite him over for brunch or dinner. At 80 you wont have too much longer to be annoyed at his presence. |

It's hard to be civil and kind sometimes when we don't want to be bothered, but if we keep that thought in mind, it might help the situation a little. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 30953211 United States 12/27/2012 05:12 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I looked out the window one morning after hearing a dog barking, and that old freak was in my damn yard, letting his mutt chase a cat. Could have been my cat, but it wasn't. Gonna have to do something soon, I'm afraid. This is what happens when retired old people get complacent and maybe a little senile. |

He comes from a generation, arising from many previous generations that valued civility and neighborliness. Tragic that you consider such values a waste of your precious time. |

Quoting: andawg221 One that helps a neighbor, even if its miniscule yard work. Throw him a bone man! In the form of another rake. I understand not wanting to be bothered, but I doubt he is trying to be a Dick. Give him some 50 pound sacks of mulch to carry out to the back yard...a lot of them. |

I think it is sweet that he asks if he can help you, so he's not stopping you from working. As others have said, he's probably just lonely and wants someone to talk to. Also, people of that generation were way more friendly with neighbors than we young ones are. My older neighbors on one side came up and met us the first week we moved in. When people moved in next to us on the other side, we never went over and said "Hi" and they never came over to say "Hi" either. So it's been like 6 months now and I have no idea who these people are. |
