The problem is that by the time the deer find the carrots they are frozen solid. Remember, I live in Canada. This morning the carrots were still there but frozen solidly. It was apparent that something was trying to nibble at the frozen carrots... but just nibbles. Prolly rabbits. In the end it doesn't even matter... |

ººEATºº (OP) User ID: 31221408 Canada 01/05/2013 08:22 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Ok. I'll pick up some apples tonight. Then I'll sit in my van and wait for the deer to come out of the bush and walk along the road like they have been doing lately. I will then toss them a few apples and hope I make some new friends. There are actually many deer within the city limits of Edmonton. During the day they hide out in the many creeks and ravines and the big river valley. At night they venture out into the neighborhoods to snack on stuff. In the end it doesn't even matter... |

Other than that, a fun thing to watch deer eat is melons. The love melons, and make a tidy little hole with their hoof to get started, then carefully eat the insides out, leaving a surprisingly clean and neat melon shell behind. For something that won't freeze-corn. Ear corn is best if you want to watch them play with it. Shelled corn is more readily available. salt or salt mineral blocks really help them in the spring. When all the new foliage comes out, deer get the runs from eating all the fresh greenery and loose a lot of electrolytes. This limits their feeding. With a salt or salt mineral block, they can replenish their electrolytes and feed better. |

They love Turnips and if you have any trees nearby that have mistletoe in them thats too high for them to reach , cut it loose and feed that to them . It like giving candy to a kid they absolutely love the mistletoe. |
