I've had to leave Libya following serious abduction threats from certain Islamists I managed to aggravate with an investigation I was doing.

All Britons have been urged by the Government to leave the Libyan city of Benghazi in response to a “specific and imminent threat” against westerners.

The Foreign Office has been advising against travel to most of the country since last September, but has now stepped up its warning.

We are aware of a specific, imminent threat to Westerners in Benghazi. We advise against all travel to Benghazi and urge any British nationals who are there against our advice to leave immediately.

We advise against all but essential travel to Tripoli, Zuwara, Az Zawiya, al Khums, Zlitan and Misrata, and the coastal towns from Ras Lanuf to the Egyptian Border, with the exception of Benghazi. We advise against all travel to all other areas of Libya, including Benghazi.

There is a high threat from terrorism. Attacks could be indiscriminate, including in places frequented by expatriates and foreign travellers.

No chance i'd still be in Libya if i was a Brit.

Sad but true - the one group who wasn't told about the threat was local law enforcement in Benghazi. So many of me have been killed over the last several months that many are no longer showing up 2 work...
