Re: Firearm panic buying still going at full-speed
I wrote all of this a while back. I didn't start my own thread because I needed to protect my friend, who gave me the info.. He basically work(s) for a large gun manufacturer and is the son of the owner. He told me some interesting things.

they will ban all semi-automatic rifles and will not confiscate them but will make them illegal to sell, transfer or give away. At death they will be confiscated. All manufacturers have been instructed to switch manufacturing to single shot rifles with new safety measures, making it hard to pull the trigger. It involves a second "trigger" that must be squeezed before the primary trigger can be squeezed and requires the use of a second finger. Gun buyback programs will be initiated and funded by a new registration fee, required for all new and previously owned weapons. Yearly liscensing will be required for each firearm. The thinking of the current administration is that most gun owners are mentally I'll and addicted to purchasing firearms, in the same way a crackhead needs crack. They site the enormous amount of debt these people go into to buy a new gun even when they already own a similar gun.

they were told this before the previous election and were assured that these changes would come about. When sandy hook hit the news my buddy knew it was all over. They slowed production to a standstill because they can't afford to have a million dollars worth of unfinished guns in the works when the government pulls the plug. Now they don't know what to do. My friend, BTW, is planning on leaving the USSA and has already bought a place in Switzerland.

I believe CHIP responded to my posts. I can't find them anymore.

I really can't see prices coming down much. Not with all the anti gun legislation that they're coming out with

Re: Firearm panic buying still going at full-speed
It was a weird day. An office building that I am in at least three or four times a week was shot up by a guy on a tirade in a law office. And while I carry, I don't normally take my bag with me when I run into the building. I think I will from now on . . .

I stopped by Cabela's to pick up a few things, and when I tried going into the firearms section to check it out, it was almost a mob scene (on a Wednesday afternoon). I wouldn't shop there normally, but now I am convinced that I would rather patronize my local dealer than deal with that madhouse.
I would prefer not to.

You cannot buy a more reliable, accurate, and simple firearm than a glock. Plus, they dont cost much relative to other guns and mags are cheap and reliable too.

Re: Firearm panic buying still going at full-speed
I agree ammo is still being panic bought. Its a supply thing.

I noticed today that semi-auto rifles are NOT being snatched up like they were the last couple of weeks. I'm hoping the panic buying of rifles is settling down a little bit.

Glocks are still out there but the price is still ridiculously high. I've got plenty of all three so i'm not in any hurry to buy anything. I'd like to have a 19 but i'll wait unless i find a gen4 at a good price.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 33293563

I have shot Glocks but never owned one. I don't get the whole Glock craze.
 Quoting: TDJ

I've worked with a couple. Not a fan. Like Berretta 92s and S&W 59s. (I love my 5906 but man that thing is heavy.)

I'm a fan of ACCURACY. Glocks are durable. Accurate? Not so much. The most accurate thing you can get your hands on also happens to be the cheapest: Hi-Points!

Yeah, yeah, blah, blah. Deride them all you want. I piss people off every day when I pull out my HUGE Hi-Point HPJ, and put 5 shots, all holes touching, at 30 yards. The first set gets me a "Oh! You got lucky." Then I do it again. "Lucky, huh?" Then I cram the mag full and hand it to them.
They do a couple groups and walk off all pissed cause they just out-shot their $1500 Gold cup with a $180 gun.

I'd much rather have my 5906 in the field but, on the range, Hi-Points kick EVERYBODY'S ass. They're pretty reliable too one you tune up the feed lips on the mags. I've got one that jammed all the time. A little adjustment and it feeds like a glock now.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 4071370

I shoot Glocks better than anything else that doesn't cost over a grand or shoot .22. I've also been eyeing a hi point for a truck gun.

Hard core patriots are already and have been armed,...for generations. They are also armed well. I bet these purchases are the last minute patriots saying,... "uuuh, honey...changed my mind. I am getting a gun and stocking up. I Don't care what you say"....

Guns dont kill people.
People do.

I seen guns at gun show three weeks ago. They were just laying there.

Cars kill more people than guns. I supposed we ban those next.

Guess who the biggest murderer's are..?? Politicians and the cartels that control them in UK & DC.

Anyone with half a brain knows these things.

Thinking it might be a good time to export some ammo to the states.

Who needs 22lr and what will you pay for 500 rounds?

just got back from Walmart in NE Ohio. they had some .40 and other odds and ends that was about it. I've got plenty of bulk 22 but could use some more CCI Velocitor. Ammo will soon be like gold for barter. I've got a ton of Remington 00buck for barter.

Buckshot is good to have. I like using it on coyotes. Especially #4 buck.
I just started loading for 12 gauge, oo & #4 buck. I've been loading for 20 & 28 gauge for a few years but am just barely getting in to loading buckshot. Thankfully, shotgun primers are still easily available. Powder not so much. Been trying for a couple weeks to find an 8# jug of blue dot.

I work part time in a gun shop, there is almost no ammo to be had. The shop owner attended the shot show in vegas and manufacturers think this is not going to last to much longer. ammo will be available again soon as well as firearms.

I really don't understand the point of owning tons of ammo, unless you are viewing it as a commodity for future barter.

For actual shooting, what's the point? If things ever get crazy hot enough where you will go through more than a few hundred rounds of ammo,

a) you will likely die before expending it all

or, as my military friend pointed out

b) there will be plenty of surplus ammo due to other deaths.

My buddy subscribes to the view that in a civil war scenario, obtaining surplus ammo will be the least of your problems. You will be able to pick up all you can carry.

Exactly. All you can carry is all you really need.

Well, except for practice.

Also, a pistol is a back-up weapon, no need to have 12 magazines for it...

1.5 billion .40 rounds purchased by whatever is pretending to be the Federal government.

250,000 new NRA members every 10 days.

10 million new guns sold every 30 days.

Pretend Federal Government spending 200% GDP every 12 months.

Guns, ammo sell within seconds of becoming available.

Guess where this ends?
